well... dad's tired of me showin my car off for the past few months and hes decided hes gettin a 1980 Corvette .. as this is his favorite year because this was the year he started getting into cars (around 11) ... its the purple color.. has the 350 in it and the 4 speed.. the guy is sellin it to us for 5 grand and hes going to look at it tomorrow ... my grandpa says its a really good deal because he has himself seen the car.. its the purple color ... Dark Claret i think is what its called ... the guy sent a few exterior shots.. but nothing of the inside.. if anything maybe it can be a fixer upper at the least... so heres the pictures... tell me what u think
ps: i know this is the camaro forum but i dont really notice to much activity on the vette's

Damn I really feel old now saying your Dad was 11 in 80, so was I. But my boy is only 3 so I have a few more years till he breaks me. Funny thing I can ask him what car do you want when your old enough to drive and he always responds with " a corvette Dad" lol. Btw nice car for the price. Love that color

I own one myself, so let me be biased and say I LOVE IT. That is the correct name for the color. Do you know if its an L48 or L82 engine? Doesnt look like a bad deal for the price.. it has the classic rear "waivey bumper" syndrome from sitting outside. Only other thing to know is that if you plan on it being a hardcore SHOW car the front bumper will probably have to be replaced too. When the noses are hit and stressed like it looks like that one has been.. the urethane wants to spiderweb, making the paint spiderweb. Did he happen to score another set of tops with it?? They have glass ones too.

I love the 1980 corvette, I had one with the L82 engine. If he gets this car for 5 grand he is scoring a heck of a deal. These cars are bringing high dollar here in North Carolina.

Getting one of those in a 4 speed is rare.

All of the cars were slow that year due to all of the smog emissions, however for that year, the corvette was one of the faster cars. I took all of the smog equipment off of mine and put a set of flat top pistons and a different cam in it. The car ran great after that. Getting a 4 spd is very rare in that model. That is what I was looking for at the time but could not find one in decent shape. I know a guy who I think has a set of the glass / mirror T-tops for that model vette if you are interested.

Thats a sweet ride. Yes if its stock its a dog. But being a GM product with a 350 and a 4sp that can change real fast. Old vettes pick chicks up like no other, even if it is slow lol.
