This site rocks. period. Had to say that. Any body that takes real pride in an import makes me sick. I don't care how fast your wrong wheel drive honda is. I'll never respect you. It's an American pride thing for me. I just can't be passionate about anything but American iron.

I think that its pretty funny when these imports think that they are hot shit. They talk about how they can out handle us...well thats true...for the most part...but thats not where it counts. Where it counts is on the highway or at a stoplight. Thats where I get most of my kills from.

what they see is the curves... even then, they are crappy unless you put a lot of aftermarket parts on them, but all that gets you is a car that rides like a rock...
i am right there with you, american muscle all the way... i actually argued last night at work over the subject

on the road is where it counts. however, i do think it would be fun to race on a set up road course, hitting turns etc

Yeah it would be pretty fun getting on a road course. But like you said. On the road is where it counts.

thats just a misconception that people have. with the right set up an f body will do just fine on a road course. i hate the way front wheel drive handles. if im going through a turn i know that i can compensate for some understeer and get through the turn easier by swinging the ass end out a bit. front wheel drive gets touchy when you hit the gas and take a turn....
AWD is another story though...its mighty fine.

Honda's are more American than GM??
Dude, don't be an idiot. You obviously have no idea how economics or trade work.
Honda is a JAPANESE company. They were founded in Japan, and their headquarters is still there today. When Honda makes money, it helps the Japanese economy. When Honda gives people jobs, it helps the Japanese people.
Honda builts cars in many different countries. Why?? Because its cheaper. They don't built cars in the US out of good will, to help give Americans jobs. If you believe that you'll believe anything, they do it to save money and be more efficient. If they can built the cars that are sold in the US in the US, that saves a lot of money in terms of importing and shipping costs.
Japanese automarkers being in the US does not help our economy. They built factories, hire workers, sell cars, and then all the profits and economic benefits go back to Japan. The US is merely the middleman. If it all of a sudden became cheaper to built cars back in Japan, those factories and workers would be abandoned in weeks. They could care less, its not their country.
Honda, nor any other Jap manufacturer, including Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, ect, will ever be an American company. They are Japanese, nothing more. Trying to pass them off as American is a disservice to real American automakers as a whole.

wesman, you seem to have a penchant for wanting a ban. you're making what he said out to be more than what he meant it to be. don't over analyze the statement. plain and simple, the f-bodies were assembled out of country and the hondas are assembled inside the country.

What did I do to cause me to be banned this time??
Stating the facts along with my opinion, as usual??

Hondas are not more American than GM cars. Country of assembly is completely irrelevent.

I didn't call him an idiot. I told him not to be one.
Statements like that remind me of Thomas L Friedman, a columnist who wrote an article in the NY times about how GM is a "danger to our country", likened them to a "crack dealer", and went so far as to say "we will all be better off when GM gets bought out by Toyota". In case you haven't deducted this from those quotes, Mr. Friedman is a complete asshole and has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. Saying things like that just reminded me of his article.
Sorry if I came accross as attacking you, I took your post the wrong way. I just get kind of defensive about such things ;)

it's not a matter of defending imports on a GM site. it's a matter of civility during the conversation. keep the conversation about the car, not the person driving it.

Well i am going to be careful on what I say now cause i dont really feel like gettin banned agian lol My first post wasnt just to start trouble ( I understand why it seemed that way though) I just wanted to inform people that everyone that drives an import is not a ricer fan boy. I am didnt come to this forum to try and convence all of you that imports are better ( i am actually here looking at some info on an ls1/ls2) i just want to say that thinking all imports all slow fwd peices of crap is just because that isnt your style is just silly. Imports have there stregnths and weeknesses just like domestics do. Saying one is the almighty and perfect and the other one is completly worthless is just plain ignorant regardless of wich camp you come from. lol now on a side note i would can anyone give me a good idea ( or tell me where to look) on about how much it would cost to make about 500rwhp on a ls1 relaible on pump gas for cheap ( relitavaly speaking)
