I am looking at buying a 2001 Camaro B4C, that is the highway patrol special service pacage, and it has 147000 miles. I am wondering what some of you guys think it is worth.

Also what kind of mileage can you expect to get from a very well maintained car?

Thanks for any advice.

Those B4C's always have high mileage. I'd pay up to 5k for a nicely kept one. If you look at the mileage thread further down, some drivers have over 180k. I had an 89 IROC that had 212k miles before I retired her. Also, since it was a highway patrol car you can be sure it's had regular oil changes.

Dont bet on that! Depending on the department goverment/state vehicles are some of the most used abused and put away wet vehicles on our highways. They are normaly maintained by a lowest bidder contract or even worse goverment owned/ran maintainence center. However look it over very well before purchase sometimes you can find a great deal.

It has been very well maintained they have records of oil and filter changes every 3000 miles, air filter changed every 5000-6000, transmission fluid and filter changed every 21000 miles and some other basic maitnence that I cant think of right now but it has been taken care of very well.

Thanks for the advice I will keep thinking.

I would love to have one. The patrol cars have all the heavy duty stuff on them to last many miles

hmm, 5500 would be my offer too. Is the car from the SC HP?

He is right.....I'm a Trooper and these cars see alot. Low bid always wins.

i own 2 (two) b4c special service coupes. one, white, has 12,XXX miles, the other, pewter, only 19 miles. from my perspective, i'd pass on a b4c that was in service and look for one privately owned. they are out there, just takes time to find the right one. both mine are six speeds, cloth, solid roof, traction control and the basic radio. great cars. quick and no bells and whistles.

Never trust the service records, I had a 96 impala that I bought with 60k on it..according to the service records all the fluids were changed when needed. It also said the head gaskets were changed 4 times, It got new injectors every 10k...when the smoke cleared it had on paper over 40k in what seemed were nonsence repairs. When I broke the car down to check for proof of what they did I found nothing of the sort.
