Went to Atco and ran the following best run on my 150 shot trans am
RT- .020
60 ft- 2.047
1/8- 8.065
MPH- 94.10
1/4- 12.232
MPH- 120.30
Not bad on street tires and stock 10bolt. Other mods are full x pipe, lid, shifter, throttle body. No major mods other than nitrous. I think I could have hit 11's if I did a few more runs or had some drag radials. What ya guys think?

with drag tires you should hit mid 11s.

if its set up correctly and tuned, quite a bit

The 150 shot is fine on most of our cars....as long as it was tuned for it on the dyno checking the A/F ratio....the stock fuel pumps handle about 450 horses....its the 10 bolt that you have to worry about :D

I have used my 150 shot plenty of times and I have a stock tune and a upgraded fuel pump to be safe. If setup right nitrous wont hurt the motor much, maybe just a bit of added wear. As for the 10 bolt, its holding up pretty well, its still smooth and doesnt hop or make any weird noises, crossing my fingers though.

How much power can the stock 10 bolt take? I have one in my car and am curious how much torque would shred one.

A4 transmissions are more forgiving than M6s.
the general rule is about 400 rwhp and the rear is gonna go boom

What kills the rear end? Launching it hard? Once you get past the actual launch what can cause damage to the rear end?

400 rwhp? That sucks. ~sigh~ I guess I better save up for a 12 bolt. How much can an average 12 bolt cost? I've seen some around 1600 bucks and that doesn't seem TOO expensive. It better be pretty durable though.

I've seen Moser 12 bolts in the $1600-$2200 range

I have been at over 400 for a long time now, and now am close to 500 with a stock rear. Like I said maybe I am just lucky because I hear lots of stock 10 bolt horror stories from people that arent putting out that much power. I am actually suprised I havent broken mine yet.

More people seem to have Moser, so I guess they have a better product. Cant tell you from experience though.

The stock 10 bolt is a tricky little thing. Some 10 bolts let go on a little over stock power, others last to 500+ horsepower. It is all luck of the draw it seems but give an M6 some sticky tires and the odds go up that its gonna go boom :D

Nice times man!
I've been 11.80's with only a 118.3mph and a 1.81 60', so you definatly have some 11.7's or better waiting for you with that 120 trap.
Get yourself some DR's, but don't go too crazy on that poor little 10 bolt, and you should be able to cut a pretty safe 11.8x.
Good luck :)

Almost everyone I know that has a Moser had problems, mostly from poor setups that resulted in noisy gears (thus weaker and less efficient), leaks, etc. Not that other companies like Strange are without their problems, but overall Strange seems a lot more reliable of a company, and their rears are only about 10% more. Chances are you'd pay more than the difference in prices just trying to get a problematic Moser sorted out......

Thanks man. At least now I know what other high 11 cars are trapping. Nice 60 ft too man. Yeah I will have to try some drags to see if I can get mid 11's. I could tell by my 1/8 mile time that if I could hook well my et would drop a lot. My 1/8 was in the low 8's, should have been a lot better than that if I had some stickys.

No problem :)
You could probably run better than 11.7x with your power, but I wouldn't go pushing the launch that hard with the stocker rear. With a conservative launch you should be able to safely do an 11.7x.
With a 12 bolt 11.5's should be within reach if not better.
Good luck!

Yeah that first 1/8 mile is killin me. The car feels like it wants to just take off, the front end comes up a little like the tires might lift, but they dont, it just spins and swerves. Cant wait to get some stickys, but it will be awhile because I just bought the Goodyear GS-D3's.

Wait let me stir up some shit here now with the ford boys, where are they anyway??? I ran faster all night than my friend with a 03 Cobra with pully, tune, bassani headers/x pipe, CAI, drag ragials, and shifter. Whos gonna be first to call B.S.???
I do love how his cobra sounds with that exhaust, it sounds so awesome and clean.

Good times!!! Definitely a mid 11 is in your future if you get some sticky tires.
What elevation is your track at? And I am curious to know what the weather was like on that run?

Track is very close to sea level in south jersey. Bad conditions that night, over 90 degrees and around 95% humidity. Definately not a good race night, but I was only there for a few days so I had to go regardless of weather. I know he would have been running a bit better in the cobra if it was nicer out that night.

I corrected your timeslip and for the weather conditions you gave me. It corrects to 11.902 @123.396 MPH.
You definitely have enough MPH for a low 11 if you can stick the launch!!
For comparison my 2000 GT went 11.817 @ 119.237 MPH with a 1.72 60' on July 2nd at Sacramento raceway. Corrected for weather it would have been an 11.53 @ 122.854 MPH.
You can see the difference a decent but not great 60' time will make!!

Well my friend with the cobra called me today, he ran an 11.91 @ 117 last night at atco. Warm and kinda humid. He let the car sit 2 hours with ice bags on the motor. He then pushed it to the line and started it and it was all the way cool. He also pulled a 1.83 60 ft. Pretty impressive. Well if I can hook to the track I think I can get around 11.5 sine I am trapping so high, I just need to get stickys. Ill have to try the letting the car cool off thing too next time.

Hey brad, what are some good tracks in NY? I'm new to the area and everyone where I live says Englishtown is the closest. I don't care if it is small and not used much, in fact that's what I would prefer as this would be my first time on a track.

e town may be the closest to you. I live way up by canade and ESTA in cicero is the closest to me. Do a search on yahoo for drag strips or something and you can find out where all the tracks are.

Well over I got about 7 bottles through the 150 and about 10 through a 75 shot, motor runs no different then before I installed the juice.

One of the leading causes of damage to the rear end is surprisingly not hard launches, but doing donuts. It helps if you think about it, with a limited slip differential, the inner most wheel and mechanics are turning at a slower speed than the outer wheel, since it is covering a larger circumfrence. Cars are designed to do this, but the rapid revving of the motor/drive train, along with wheel speed that makes the rear end break loose and start swinging into oversteer, creating smoke and screaching, can really wear onyour rear end. This is not to say that hard launches don't damage the rearend, along with the clutch, transmission, and other points along the drivetrain that you are shocking with a hard launch.
oh yeah, this is my first post, woot!
