As the title says, i just want a list of what mods people have and what times they have run with these mods. HP and Torq numbers would be good too. Thanks all.

Im glad this thread is finally starting to take off a little bit. This way when some1 wants to know what their car should run, instead of making a new thread, they can just check out this 1 and compare to what some1 else has.

Basically a stock A4/2.73 car. I've got a lid, cutout and free mods. My quickest pass was 13.44 @ 105.75 mph. My fastest pass was 13.52 @ 107.43 mph. Not bad for a 2.73 rear end stocker with streets.

My best with my '98 TA AT 2.73 rear, with a lid, manually shifting at 6150 RPM was 13.65 @ 102.9. My '00 WS6 6-SPD with a lid and muffler has a best of 13.2x @ 107.5 3x and best ET of 13.17 @ 101 with a missed shift into 4th. 60 foot times near 2.0, 1.998-2.05.. Waiting for March, to see what my Hookers and ORY do for the 1/4. Hopefully 12s @ 109+ with good weather. I like this thread, to see what mods are done and the results. Dyno numbers are good, but the real numbers are at the drag strip!

Very nice. I am impressed at these LS1's and how quick they run with virtually nothing done. With just a lid and a cat back exhaust your MPH indicates the car can tickle the 12's. Do you still have a stock tune with torque management and all? Larry.

ASR is an extra option in your car. IT stands for ACCERLATION SLIP REGULATOR.. Its kind of like traction control except when it feels one tire breaking loose it kicks the power to the other tire to even things out.. It feeds the tire with the least resistance. ;)

The big block camaros I owned in the past were both hardtop models, but only weighed just over 3,400 lbs. each. I don't think a vert would add more than 100-150 lbs. over that.
He is probably right on part with you as far as weight goes.
Which cylinder head is he running on it? Oval port, Square port, aftermarket?
You say it's stroked? Is it no longer a 396? How big is it now?

That father son rivalry is fun. My father and I have been going back and forth for years with his 69 GTO and my 72 454 chevelle. Let us know how it turns out. Larry.

Larry.

i still think that with heavier leaf spring/traction bars, subframe connectors, etc., including fuel, him and everything is back in/on the car it will be all of the 3800 lbs...

i will have to get back to you in regards to which heads he's going with. that's actually the hold up right now along with pushrods...

i believe that he has stroked the engine either .040" or .060" thousandths over so between 408-427 c.i. if my math is right...

dont worry i will be keeping everyone up to date...

Any idea what I would run in the quarter?

I use this chart to give a start as to where an 1/8th mile time would put u in the 1/4 http://www.centralfloridastreetcars.com/quartermileconversion.htm
so u should be in the high 12s by this chart, and usually its pretty close

Larry. My 67 BB loaded boat weighs out at almost 3600 with all fluids and me out of the car. At least that's what a truck scale said. All those options weigh a lot.

3600 is not bad if it's loaded with options. Thats about right. Options like A/C and power windows added alot back then, these things were much bigger and more bulky. I only questioned it because 4,000 lbs. is pushing it for a 1st gen, even a big block convertable. It would take a 300 lbs. person sitting in the car to come close to that. He didn't mention if it had A/C or any other power accessories, although a real SS should already have the power front disc brakes and a 12 bolt rearend etc...
Mine were both SS 396 cars, and both hardtops, and were just over 3,400 lbs. without me in it.
My 72 SS 454 chevelle which is twice the car of a first gen camaro, has A/C and other goodies, and it comes in exactly at 3,800 lbs. with about 2 gallons of gas. Once full of gas and me sitting in it, (race trim) it's 4,108 lbs. I just don't see a 1st gen coming close to that,,,,even a vert.

If it were me, since you guys are heading to the track I would throw both cars on the scale just for giggles. Doesn't cost anything and it would really help tell the tale about how a car is running and the kind of power it's making.
It's really difficult to compare all these timeslips people post on here without knowing details like how much the car weighs (and I mean exactly, not estimates) and also the weather conditions (Density Altitude).
People like to compare these timeslips with similar cars to get an idea of what their own car might run but,,,,,,,
Without this kind of info all these timeslips of stock cars and modified cars really don't do me any good. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
Larry.

Larry,

he does have factory A/C...

no power windows or top...

putting it on scales is a good idea. i will run that by him. plus he's about 200 lbs. i dont weigh that much, but i am 5" taller than he is...lol

Larry,

this is what i got from my dad. my math was alittle off and so was my guess in weight. Looks like i might be in for a major butthurting...

440 Cubic Inches, Heads are Iron Oval Ports, ported and polished (they flow 300+CFM intake/exhaust/cylinder), stainless steel valves w/full roller valve-train (cam, lifters, rockers). Weight about 3200 lbs. Completed w/Dominator Carb/Hooker Comp. Headers, MSD Ignition, etc. about 550 RWHP...

Yeah, but we can kill your dad with our gas mileage!:burnout: And we can go around a corner. I did have a '67 400 4 spd Firebird for 11 years until I sold it in 2000 for my '98. The best I did in that car was a 13.27 @105.7 with headers, Torker ll, 750 dbl pmpr Holley, 3.42 rear, street tires, etc. I got 9 city, 10 highway MPG! And the 4 wheel (dumb) drum brakes were good for one stop at the drag strip, don't try them again!

Oh common, I love my old stuff. It just has a mistique and charactor all it's own that a new car just doesn't catch.
The old stuff can get great mileage too if setup right. I have a couple of them here that compare very well to my 02 SS in mileage, and right now are beating the pants off of it at the track too. But I am working on that though :D

Sounds like it may run pretty decent. I can tell you both of my 69 camaros I had were 396/375 hp models with 4 speeds. Motor itself was stock, with a cam change, headers, 4.56 gears, some tuning and sticky tires got me very low 12's at 112 mph.
They can be plenty quick without too much effort. Although the LS1 is nothing to sneeze at, this sounds like it should be alot of fun. I love the father/son stuff.
