After I thought about it in the year 2006 I probably waxed my car about 30 times where most say to wax 3-4 times a year, is that too much, would it hurt my clear coat or anything else with my paint. I use meguiars nxt.

i dont think it contains enough abraisives to cause any harm. just has more "fillers" to mask the scratches.

Don't think it's as much of the wax you are using to worry about as is the towels and (or) and the risk of inducing swirls / scratches as the amount of times you touch the surface when you do it.........

I use NXT and think it's a nice sealant. Easy to use , easy to take off.. But it's like Crack....The more you use it the more you think you have to cause the thrill does'nt last long..

On a Garage queen it works great but a daily driver is where it lacks.

Again the less you touch the paint the better off you will be........

When you do touch the paint, what is the best thing to touch it with say when you're removing wax?

NXT though a good sealant that produces an outstanding shine, it really doesn't layer as goos as other sealants with better durability.

It depends on what you're using to wax your car with. Some waxes also have mild abrasives in them that can penetrate your clear coat.

A good quality cotton /and or Microfiber towel is good.
And don't rub hard as though you think the paint should come with it. Rub only as much and as hard you need to remove the wax.

I've seen (and did it) paint that you could actually scratch by rubbing your finger over it to hard....So when you have those people who "just" want to feel how smooth your paint is....it can happen

You won't hurt the paint with a non-abrasive wax but putting coat after coat of wax on top of each one does not improve the shine at all. It is just a waste of time. Use a detail spray for ultimate results in-between waxing. The 3 or 4 times a year is good advice unless the car is constantly outside in adverse conditions, then I would double that recommendation.

I agree completely (as I realize I lost count of how many coats of Zaino I've put on my car long ago). ;)

There's always a point of diminishing return when it comes down to wax layering :)
