I think I seen a thread on this one time but here it is again. I have to hit my remote 3 times to get the rear hatch to open. I think it should only take 2. Even the button on the inside it should take only one time. How do I fix it ?

yea i did the new spring hatch mod too. only problem was that in the beginning i guess the spring was too tight and the hatch would randomly pop up on it's own. this was really not fun while driving or taking a hard corner. i had to hang some weights on the spring to stretch it out a little, now it holds tight and only pops up when i want it to.

i had a trans am too that had that problem now i have a Z with the extra spolier on top of it. (the ground efex package) i think it might even be that the hatch is just too heavy . but that s what i think

I have the hatch issue, but I happy to hear a solution.
Now I see a hatch issue at 125mph, I am scared!
How much weight and how long?
or just hit the remote 5 times, safer ?

it was a 25lb plate and it was overnight. the goal isnt to completely stretch the crap outta the spring but just loosen it up a bit. cause when it's cold, the metal will shrink anyway. also, if you have a set a strong vice grips you could bend the angle of the spring hooks a little to add some length.

Did the spring mod like 5 or 6 years ago. Worked fine ever since.

My 2000 Z has the ground effects package too. The hatch is much heavier than the 97 I had without the ground effects. Hard to believe that a piece of fiberglass like that is so damn heavy. I'll have to try the spring trick on mine too.

is the " spring mod " just stretching it out with a bit with a weight? Or is the mod somethign different?
