View Full Version : Lit "CAMARO" Lettering in Berger Panel

It just occurred to me that although I stated I was going to do this, I never posted pics of the final project. Basically I took a spare tail panel, dremeled out the lettering, painted it Semi-Gloss black, finely painted a sheet of plexi in Sebring Silver, affixed it to the inside of the panel, reaffixed the insides of the letters A and O, and used a 30" red neon to light it up. I wanted to use a led bar, like 6 vertical columns and 30 rows, then have it scan progressively when I hit the brake... but that custom bar would have run about $350, and other things seemed more important...you know, things that make me go fast.
I'll upload pictures of the new setup, because I actually just re-painted it and went with mirrored tint for the lettering. I'll snap some pictures and get them up soon.
Ah, and yes, I know: "Rice, rice, rice" :Potty: To each their own, I think it's pretty tasteful.

Nice unique mod!
 Thats actaully an awesome idea! looks sweet man!! as for it being ricerish, i dont think that is at all.... looks like fill-ins during the day and just lights up to a low-glow during the night... i personally think the LED setup may be taking a step in the ricer department though... JMO! Good looking ride!

that's way cool! How much did that cost for the actual neon stuff? is it just like a bar you buy from auto zone?

Awesome, after the amount I of time I put into it, I was afraid of people's responses. Like I said, I just re-did the whole thing, primarily so I could use a reflective tint on the plexi instead of paint, I think it looks better now, I'll post pictures tonight. I'll also do a write up, I may just go ahead and do that in an additional post. Thanks for the compliments guys!

I have an idea that you were smart in using a RED tube instead of any other color, being such, I don't think the law could nail you for having 'auxiliary' lights. If they said something, ask them to pay attention to a Sunfire sometime.

Don't get me wrong, like i've said before it looks bad ass. :yup:
But why didn't you go an easier route, like reflective dome inserts. :dunno:
