i need 2 know something

i have a 1984 z28 camaro (5-speed) i am in the process of fixin odds and ends on it, i rebuilt the engine already as well as all the seats and some other stuff, when i pulled the engine i also pulled the trans and i found out tht the driveshaft was pretty messed up so i wanted 2 change it and i got 1 from a friend out of his 87 rs and its and automatic and i was wonderin if it is gonna work cuz i have been told tht the splines won't line up properly and i have also been told tht they will as long as i grease it and the rubber seal up. any help on this matter would b greatly apperciated

I think the spline is the same but you will want to be sure the length is correct. I think the autos had a shorter propshaft.
