how to remove shift knob????

how do you remove the Auto Tranny shit knob? i just need to take it off so i can get under the plastic, but i cant figure out how. i notice theres a small slit on the button side of the knob but i cant figure out if it helps remove it

Put the shifter in 1st (all the way back). Use a small-medium flat head screw driver to pry the clip, located on the front face of the knob, off. Pull knob up. To reinstall, use plier to help drive the clip back in. :)
