Great thread,SOM is not just a great color It photographs great also, look at all these pics,
Thats why they used it for the cover photo + then the spread across the inside 1st two pages of the 01 brochure + then 4 small pics on the next page + then again on the colors page,If you have a SOM SS + don't have this brochure, you need to get one, My nephew swiped an entire unopened box of these from a dealership but doesn't want to part with any.I have one.
Unfortunatly with this damn web tv only a few pics came thru on here, its too much info for it to handle,Its actually the first time it let me on this thread.
The color reflects the sun so good i think thats why it photo's so well.
Has anybody seen the new Vette's orange next to a SOM, is it the same color?
If my Z is sold today, I may look for an SOM SS, to replace it.SOM is really the only other color that interests me.But the white also really stands out on the SS, with the white you see the hood scoop opening from a mile away, it really stands out, there is one for sale locally but its ragged,+ he wants too much.
Can someone post some pics of their white cars on a new thread, it will help me decide.

From my experience with SOM, it is great with detailing, but it is a tempermental color.

IMO it is a harder color to work with changes such as stripes or graphics. The color is moody, and it has many different shades under lighting and shade changes. It is also a color that begs for attention, so sometimes very bold changes, even a not too good wheel change can upset the balance of the color and body match. It really wants to show itself off without any help. You can work with it, but you must be careful in picking mods that will compliment it rather than try to outshine or overstate its looks.

Red, black, Silver or Pewter and white cars IMO can handle stripes and body kits easier than moody colors like SOM, NBM, Monterey Maroon and a few other shades of blue that were featured on previous 4th gens.

Well, i cant say that i own it anymore, but heres my 02 Som SS that i used to have... i know, i know... i kick myself everyday for selling it but i had to do it at the time.....:cuss: loved everyday of owning it though:)

I took a few new pics of the SOM this weekend. I got it all nice and waxed. got a few goodies including a in dash touch sreen dvd player, painted my caliper SOM, front nose and badge. seats and gauge emblems, and so on....
