just resived my hooker LT's...does anyone here have or know anyone using this setup? or would my slp dual/dual system be just fine? im just worried about backpressure right now if i would be doing more harm than good. car is stock with just bolt on's.. thanks
Screw backpressure!
Seriously, ANY backpressure means the piston is having to push the exhaust out of the chamber, and that costs power.Even with stock internals, the LS1 has high torque/hp peaks... torque peaks at 4400 rpm. That high, you don't want ANY backpressure. With the stock cam, you shouldn't have a problem with the exhaust being so efficient that it sucks the intake charge through the overlap in the valves, so I say run with your 4" Mufflex.
I helped lay out a 4" exhaust on a 3rd gen, before there was Mufflex, and the car shook the ground at idle. At 7000 rpm, though, it sounded more like it was singing happily, instead of straining a nut to keep going... but don't tach 7000 rpm with your stock LS1.
