I have a set of ZR-1 powder coated silver wheels that are 9 years old. They have minor scratches on them. They have since dulled. How do you polish them? What compound, polish, and wax do you use? How do you get the black tar chunks and brake dust off of the inner side of the wheel? The inner part of the wheels are bare aluminum.

are they powdercoated or painted? i think in either case find a mild cleaner wax to clean and get the minor scratches then a fine polish to shine and then a sealer like zaino to lock it in and make the shine last longer.

you cant polish them the scratches just dont go away my roh gt wheels are coated and every time i look at them there are new ones i will never own another set of powder coated rims. i would only suggest takeing them and get them refinished.

Agreed Chrome is still the best finish for a reason!

mine were painted... i stripped them and polished them ( the 4 x 17x11s ) pics in signature.
I basically used aircraft remover to strip the paint/clear.... clean thoroughly and then wet-sand it... then polish.

clean them as good as you can then use some meguirs scratch fix to get rid of the scratches. then take some polish or rubbing compound and shine the up. then take a wax to seal it in:)

I had the same problem here are some pics:
