Hey everybody,

I was referred to this forum by a friend of mine because of an odd engine problem I've having with my 95 z/28:

Here's the link if you wanna check it out and see if you have any input! (http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37087)

About Me: I was born and raised in TN, but grew up and started studying Electrical Engineering until I fell madly in love with a Hawaiian girl I met in TX. I decided I needed a good income and security from a job I could do with little experience, so I joined the Navy, and am currently serving as an Aviation Electricians Mate (I fix the wires and electronics in helo's), and soon after, married that gorgeous little Hawaiian. We currently reside in Norfolk, VA, where I'm home ported, but at the present moment I'm finishing a deployment in Kuwait.

When I return, I will be reunited with my wife and my car and my home audio system (my 3 great loves in order from greatest to not greatest). My hopes and dreams for the car are basically a daily driver with 375-400 rwhp, Naturally Aspirated, restored to a like new condition, and completely upgraded suspension which will keep the car sporty and tight in the corners without jostling me around too much trying to drive the highway in traffic. Final colors are to be dark slate blue metallic with silver outlined white speed stripes, charcoal top with gunmetal 18x9.5 wheels.

However, in all this, I have a question: In less than 3 years, my active duty will be up, and because I know it is near impossible to work on an Engineering degree while in the mlitary, simply because of the time required for study, I have decided to work in a car mechanic shop after the military, and work on my degree then. The question I have is, considering that I am a novice auto mechanic, would a school such as ATI or UTI or Wyotech and attaining ASE certifications benefit me in trying to get a job at a performance shop, or is there another method of training that is preferred?

Also, I love Jay Leno, simply due to his facination with automobiles, but loathe him for the amount of money he is able to spend. For instance.. the sheer cost of having Gale Banks and his team spend 1500+ man hours developing a Bosch based fuel injection system and dual superchager for his v12 Tank Car in order for it to produce 1600+hp to move the 10,000lbs car. Or the time he repaid an old friend of his by buying a 2006 Corvette and having it aestheticly modified with ground effects and replacing the interior trimming with carbon fiber.

But in summary, thanks for having me here, and I hope I learn a lot from this place.
