I asked this is the drivtrain thread but I thought i'd put it up in here as well. In the next 2 months or so I am looking at getting the t-rex and 4.10 gears. Now I talked to the shop and they were talking about dnyo tuning as soon as it was finished. Now I thought this would be bad because of break in time w/ gears :ar: but he seemed to think if we just don't let them heat up it will be ok...Do u guys think he is right or me? He said we could do a street tune first if I wanted they dnyo it later but if it wont hurt anything I might as well do the dnyo asap. So any thoughts or exspeariances w/ dynoing brand new gears???

Thanks Guys.

Let them break in before hammering on them, at least give it a couple hundred miles to let stuff seat it. I'm assuming your using new bearings as well? More critical them, the gears almost "wear" in you could say.

And one other thing....I hear no long trips on new gears. Well what is considered a long trip? and for how long till that is ok? I mean I can't image that along w/ the 500 miles of soft driving you can't take it on long trips that whole time(or atleast I hope thats not the case!) Thanks everyone.

actually in an m6 they are quite mild...I know many that have gone with 4.30 & 4.56's and just a slightly larger tire when needed. In a daily driven car though 4.10's are about the optimal gear for most and you can actually use 6th gear ;)
