I'm thinking about buying Eibach sportline springs for my 2001 trans am ws6. Any other suggestions and do u think it would look right on my car. I know someone that has a red ws6 and it looks really good on his car just wondering.

I used to be like you, then I realized I could get coilovers for $100 more and have infinite adjustability at each corner. I'll never look at lowering springs again.

Ground Control coilovers run ~$430 for all 4 corners from Stranoparts.com, there're other options out there, this just happens to be the one I went with (mainly because I bought my whole suspension setup from Sam Strano and he carries the GC kits.). I've heard LG Motorsports carries a nice kit, and I've heard of a couple others that escape me at the moment...you can research it if you want.

They come with all the parts you need to install and adjust (about 4" of range, which ends up being way more than needed), and you get to pick your spring rates.

Compared to lowering springs which cost ~$300-$400, allow zero fine-tuning and don't let you select your spring rates....really it's almost a no-brainer.

EDIT: I think they're compatible with stock shocks (???), but that shouldn't matter bc you NEED to replace your shocks if you do ANY suspension upgrades, the stock ones SUCK and upgrading them makes a huge difference on an otherwise stock suspension. On a modified suspension, the shittiness of the stock shocks will only be more evident, plus they'll wear out really fast.

If anything I give up some ride quality, partly because the springs are significantly stiffer (by my choice) and partly because they are linear, whereas some lowering springs are progressive-rate. Progressives are supposed to increase comfort by being initially soft, but that also means they introduce a bit of softness into the handling...a tradeoff, clearly. Hmmmm I wonder if Eibach makes progressive springs to fit coilover kits, that'd be interesting....

EDIT: I should point out that proper damping is what really makes the difference. Match the shock tuning to the springs and anything will ride comfortably, sharp bumps and stiff springs notwithstanding.

i wouldn't recommend the sportlines.
they are very low, allowing for little suspension travel.. but that isn't the big problem. the problem is that they are too soft for that little suspension travel.
which means that if properly damped w/shocks, you'll be bottoming out.
the other alternative is to overdamp and have a harsh ride.
that mean you not letting the springs do its work... better off w/ prokits.

Ive been conderings the pro kits instead but havent made the decision yet thanks alot I probablly will go with the pro kit.

You can buy Ground Control coilovers from ground control for $419 and specify any spring rate you wish. I would recommend the Bilstein BTS system ($569) which gives you Bilstein Sport Shocks with matched progressive rate springs. Lowers front 35mm and rear 30mm. JMHO!

Where are you finding Bilstein BTS system for $569? I am getting ready replace my shocks and springs and I am considering Bilsteins. Would this kit be better than the Bilstein HD shocks and Eibach springs? I jusst can't decide on which kit I want and I don't want to waste my money and buy the wrong kit.

Eibach sportlines are a good way to go...Ive got them and so does my body with an 01 ram air
