Ya got me beat. But considering the fastest my 03 has ever been was on the track since I don't road race mine was in the 1/4 at 132. How many miles did it take for you to reach 138?

Been reading your posts today. Very entertaining especially the bike kills in a stock SS. Having owned a ZX-11 and driven Gixxer 750 and 1000's, R1, ZX-7, I find it quite amusing especially when a 600 would rip the ass off cars making 200 more rwhp than a stock SS. Hum?

I pass through GA occasionally, I hope I'm never on the same 10 mile stretch of road you are on because I value my life too much. I have a feeling you'll be peering through a set of bars or be residing behind a church real soon.

miles lol thats funny.... my car will not do 132 mph in the 1/4 but will do 100 mph so you do the math and figure how many miles..about the bikes I think I was there not you, never said and dont know exactly what kind of bikes they were....and you could be residing behind a church just as easy. Just because you race on a track does not make u immune to death. You must not value your life to much if u race on a track. Just as you look down on me for street racing, people with no interest in racing will say u r taking a great chance on a track. Dont be a hypocrite .....and where some video of the 132 mph ?????....almost forgot hit 125 mph today racing some dude in a dodge ram truck. he did pretty good for a truck we kicked it in a straight and I was about 10 cars ahead of him. Sorry but I didnt get year of truck, drivers name, his ss #, hp of his motor, exacltly how far we raced, kind of oil he used etc......I was on my way to work didnt have time to stop and chat. I know people on here wont believe it if I dont get details o ya and didnt get any pics was kinda the spur of the race moment

your quote from another post of yours

And here I was thinking u raced at the track only because of safety reasons

I drive my SS like grampa, slow and easy. But one day I took the car up to the end of the speedometer and then slowed back to normal. It was a rush and I do not plan to do that again.

It is false what you had said! Here in Germany is it not dangerous to drive on German highway (Autobahn).Come to Germany and I will show you that! The normal speed here is, when it is legal to go the speed what I want, 100 to 120 mph. What I go, 150 mph over a long time, is very rare and I drive it only when the highway is not full of cars!A high different speed between cars is dangerous! We in Germany must pass other cars only on the left side and when it enough room for driving we must go to the right side of the road. You in US so I know, can pass other cars left and right, so this is dangerous to.In Germany drive the most cars on the right side so you can go higher speed on the left side and all the other drivers know that! What is the normal speed of your highways in US?

Just about 147 or so on the interstate during a sunday afternoon between Omaha and Lincoln NE. Got on at an exit ramp, punched it to the floor as I hit
the end of the curve of the exit ramp. I would say it took much less then a half mile to reach 147, I planned on hitting bottom with my needle. Traffic
appeared and I had to bail, the came up fast. I do not go much above 25 over the speed limit on a regular day, I would hate to lose my driving rights!

But I have never backed down from a race, I have lost bad to two different
rice rockets and beat a H.D. buy about a bike, bike and a half.

Too Fast
12-23-2006, 06:25 AM
Florida, this past Sept. on our way to St. George's Island, we were on a lonely stretch of very newly paved, straight and no traffic highway. We got up to 142 before I saw an oncoming car. My wife was watching and she said did I see 145? The adrenaline rush afterwards is the best part. When I do something like that, it is daytime, no traffic, and I get up to speed as fast as possible and back down to normal speed almost as quickly. I usually cruise at 8-10 MPH over whatever the limit is and have never been pulled over for speeding doing that.

Too Fast
12-23-2006, 06:01 PM
Back in the day, car mags were showing top speed for our cars at 155-160. With a 6 speed, top speed was achieved in 5th, not 6th. The car is near 5400 at 155, so it is in the best power RPM to achieve top speed. 6th is for gas mileage. I don't know about cars with 4.10 gears, I guess the top speed would be around the same with no other mods done to the car. You would run out of RPM in 5th and 6th might still not be in the power yet. A4 cars with the 3.73 gears might go low 160s, in OD. Anybody else have input?

heh heh, i see you misunderstood my intent. i was being sarcastic because the speed in itself isn't what's dangerous, as proven by the places i named...but i'm sure some of the folks scared of their shadows will benefit from your info :D

oh and for the record, it's illegal to pass on the right here as well, but since Americans drive like morons half the time (except us sports car drivers, of course), they do not yield to overtaking vehicles and you end up passing on the right anyway. i personally don't like doing it, but i can only hang off of somebody's back bumoer for so long...

And I do really think it is illegal to pass on the right... but it never gets enforced because we all do it even the cops. There are laws that are not really used still on the books.

Heck in some state in the United States, (I think it starts with a M) trust me on this that it is "Illegal to have sex with a fish". I wish I cound recall the details more.

And NO I never broke that law (the fish) I have passed on the right before

Give me the car (new 427 Vette or ...) and I will do 200, or crash whatever
comes first.

Funny thing I am so scared of heights that I have never been on my own roof
in over 12 yrs. Yet I would Love the chance at 200mph.

With some room, I wonder where I would top at 147 was so easy and there was plenty more after that. Once I hit any traffic at all I have to slow it down. I have never passed anyone over 100mph (unwilling traffic) when trying to get top speed. Many have been passed over 100mph in the chance of a race, yet only one at a time and he/she gets there chance just as well to pass me. the thing with top speed is the more you do it the less of a thrill it becomes, after ive been 150 in my 93' formula, going 150 in my 98 T/A didnt seem to have the same rush as the first time, idk i guess its just me but 150 in the 98 wasnt scary at all it was just fun.

I am also guilty of this, I like the feeling of seeing everything around me zoom by at 140+. When I do top speed runs though it's generally about 2-3 a.m. on a Sunday to Monday morning little to no traffic on a 3 or 4 lane interstate, except on one occasion Prom night '01 when i was 16 or 17 my dad let me drive his mustang gt, me and some buddy's where goofing around in our cars and I let them get a head a little bit then passed them hitting around 140 in 5th, "WOW, that was incredible!" I thought, then as I start to slow down I see red and blue blinking lights behind me, GULP, I thought my heart was beating fast before, now it feels like a jackhammers pounding through my chest, so I proceeded to downshift into 4 and mash the pedal as hard as i can into the floor hitting 150-152 for about 5-10 miles, he had shut down his lights after 30 seconds of them being on, but I wanted to make sure I got away, the girlfriend was really pissed about the whole thing though, got to the after party 30 minutes ahead of my friends, who got stuck behind the state trooper that i screamed past

See, that' the awesome thing about living in Germany. Perfectly legal to go fast (when there's no speedlimit, of course...). 150 two days ago, more than 130 on a regular basis. But it gets old pretty quick, so my cruising speed is usually around 100 to 110 mph (on cruise controle, lol).
I actually like the US situation with the 70 mph speed limit, cause it evens out the traffic flow. Over here, driving is really hectic with people driving between 50 and 150 or more on the same road, people are getting scared of changing lanes and the like... Would miss going fast from time to time though... :yup:

@fedge

Carsten
So far so well, but the most time the fucking Mercedes and BMW driver give you the left lane free. Somtime i wish i have a Bazooka to blow them away:bomb:

you guys see my post a few weeks ago 0-130 its still on anything goes somewhere! that was in less than a mile like someone said do the math if my car can run 112 in a quarter you should top it out within the next quarter mile there is only one gear left. (automatic trans) we run the the toll way and when we leave the toll booth trac the mph by the time you get to the end of the barricade wall.

Oh I know. I did hit the limiter and I though that I broke something. Since then I have added nearly 120HP and 120TQ to it. It will do 140 with no problem. I have removed all of those nasty governors, and moved the RPM up to 7000. Elimated that pesky skip shift. I hated that thing. And put in 3.73 gears. She should be able to do nearly 190mph now....tires permitting.

I still have my 2.73 rear end, cos I like low revs when I go fast and I don't drag race (it's not so popular over here). Got a 3" catback, K+N filter and HPP, although it's more for the tranny adjusting and such.. Plan to get a lid, too. Otherwise my car's pretty much stock.
I'm running V tires now, but I'll get faster ones in spring (and a little wider, 255 or 265). Then we'll see...

Just 300 rpm? I thought it would have been more... Well, since I just got'em redone I'll stick to them for now. Also, it's a different thing here, I go 100 mph over long distances. And gas mileage is really an issue here!

Yeah, I bet. The government taxes the shit out of it, doesn't it? Prices have been falling here the last few weeks, some places are selling 87 octane for $1.899. My Marathon around the corner (and Shell) sell their 93 octane for $2.259 currently. How much is gas in Germany? I get 26.5-27.5 MPG at 75 MPH cruise, what is your MPG when cruising 110-120? 21?

I have '02 SS, and it's stock, except for diablo tuneand I was doing 135 behind this Corvette in NC. It was a bittersweet experience. Sweet, because I've never done 135 in my SS before and bitter, because the only thing that slowed that Vette down was traffic up ahead. His brake lights went from cantelopes to golf balls real quick, and were on their way to aspirin until the traffic showed up. Then it got even worse because my check engine light came on. I thought I broke my car fuckin' with that Vette. Turned out, I sucked a leaf into the air box and I dont know how it did it but it was a whole leaf about 5in across blocking airflow. I cleared the code and went about my business. The next day I got popped in GA for doing 95 in a 70, good thing he caught me slowing down. LOL!! :nana:

Last time i pumped, 95 oktane was 'bout 1.20 Euro /liter: roughly 5.90 USD /gallon. Wanna live here???
MPG at 100 mph: well, we measure liter per 100km and that would be 12 or so.
'bout 20 MPG.
Pleeze, next time you do the math, ok?!

But I don't really check, too depressing. Friend of mine has a Daihatsu Cuore (fits in my trunk), 1 liter 3 cylinder engine. That's an economy car over here!

The previous owner of my car is the one who swapped the stock rearend out of my auto Z for a hi-po posi unit, so I'm not what my rear gear ratio is. But when I hit 148, it felt like I had a lot more to go, at least 15 mph or so. My car has a hi-po chip, shift kit, the rearend, air filter upgrade and exhaust. I want another shot at 165-170, but I think I'll have to wait a couple more years. I've got a potential buyer coming to check the car out on Sunday.:brick:

you sure dj? the c6's can do that becuase they are lighter and have less areo drag then the f-bods. i'd say 170-185ish maybe all depending on your set-up.

yeah it should be close to 180, u right there's some loss because of 300lbs difference... also I checked the GTO LS2 on gtoforum.com they claim 170 pretty much top. and saw some stock c6 claim only 185-190... hmm perhaps the speedo show 200 but can't really go there very often.

It's 98% aerodynamics vs. HP and gearing for top speed. Weight plays an extremely small role. Weight only slows you on your way to top speed, it doesn't knock the utimate speed down.
