Bought a set of 5x7's for the hatch [ws.6 w/monsoon]. They are 4ohm with a midrange and tweeter but only have 1 set of terminals. How can i hook them up using the stock wiring? Should I wire the mid's to the terminals, and the high's into the two wires that extend from the cone into the tweeter? Or should i return them and get speakers with 2 sets of terminals :thinkin:

What brand and model # 5x7's did you buy? So i can see WTF you're talking about. You're still running OEM set up?

yap. OE wiring from OE component set up. Gonna replace the components with Kenwood 5x7's (http://cgi.ebay.com/KENWOOD-KFC-C5780ie-5x7-220W-Car-Speakers-PAIR-NEW_W0QQitemZ250063201929QQihZ015QQcategoryZ14940Q QrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

holy shit, i think i'm gonna return mine anyway...that set on ebay is like 20$ cheaper shipped! :faint:

If you're going to stay with OEM 2ohm set up, check these JBL's out.

If not, those Kenwoods are good choice for the price.

Dickhead, you started the tread out with i bought a set of 4ohm blah, blah, blah. To make a long story short, connect the terminals that were used to run the mids to your new 4ooooooooooooHHHHHHHHHMMMMMMM speakers.

but you started talkin about 2ohms for what then? to see yourself type :denied: :lol:

so if i connect the mids, won't the tweeter be rendered useless? it won' have any high's going to it? or is the signal from the HU a full-range signal? Riddle me that, bish!

ok, update to this;

as i said, the speakers I bought only have 1 line in but are 2-way speakers. I tried just using the wires from the stock mids to power them, but the tweeters didn't sing at all; it just sounded muddy. So i actually cut and tapped the lines from the terminals into the tweeters and mated those with the lines that use to go to the stock tweeter. OMG it was much more brilliant sounding.

In the end, i highly suggest a 5x7 with 2 lines in [a mid and a high] so that you don't have to deal with the aggrevation of all this cutting and splicing that i had to.

so far my set up consists of the following and I am very pleased:

stock H/U, monsoon amp and wireing
front: TBA
sails: Elemental Designs 6.5" eu700s
hatch: kenwood 5x7 KFC-C5780ie
