Flash Programmers/ Tuners
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A couple of questions around tuners.
1) Which one is the best?
2) How much increase in hp at the rw's?
3) Any problems encountered?
4) Does a C5 thermostat fit the gto 04?
I found a sight that selling a 180. That gets me out of the cold loop
I have a 160 on the shelf I used during the summer which keeps the
engine cooler in city traffic, but I took it out in Nov.
The last thing I want to do is mess up the PCM anyway...

Diablo is probably the best since it can delete codes, it also includes all the same features as Hypertech. I would say they'd give ya roughly 10hp maybe more depending your MODs and whether your an M6 or A4. It basically makes your car act and feel more aggressive on the road. They're working on a programmer which mounts to your dash and displays the current vehicle status which you should probably wait for, check it out on their site man... Hope that helps alil, just my $0.02.

1) Which one is the best?
depends on what you are looking to do. predator has the ability to have custom tunes uploaded. the vinci uner i use has cutom tunes preloaded based on what cam you have and whether or not you have a supercharger. the HPP3 is limited to stock gearing and the tune that comes with it has a habit of causing detonation.
2) How much increase in hp at the rw's?
again, depends on what you have done and how far off the tune is. i've gotten 17 rwhp using the vinci tuner.
3) Any problems encountered?
none with the vinci. the predator has an error with setting gearing. HPP3 has only the one program based only on a stock motor. any modifications and they say hands off.
4) Does a C5 thermostat fit the gto 04?

if it's the 04 C5, yes. if it's the 97-03, no.

whats teh difference? I wouldve assumed its the same since the LS1 has remained very similar over the years.

another thing i forgot. GM changed the housing so much, they had to modify the water pump to fit to it as well. some people have had to replace their water pump and their old t-stat housing not fit.
