thanks;
that does help but i still am having trouble geting to the top bellhousing bolts even with the proper lenth extension and a swivel socket.
when i removed the crossmember antd other stuff to my suprise the motor did not drop much at all. so was wondering if i would need to losen the motor mounts are something. would rather not.
thanks again
I will get it out i was just looking for a easier way or something.:flex:

Lowering the tranny should have given you enough room. The alternative is to pull the intake manifold and get it from the top.

What kind of exhaust do you have, the last tranny swap I did, the duals were keeping the tranny up too high to access the top 2 bell housing bolts. Once we got around the duals, it dropped low enough.
Also, you might try your local Autozone, bought 2 huge ratchet extensions that made it a lot easier.

Those bolts are a bear to get out. I used a series of smaller extensions and those seemed to help due to giving you a little more wiggle room. I used a buttload of 3" extensions that let me get at those bolts from the rear of the tranny. Having a helper under there to hold the light and direct you comes in really handy too.
