View Full Version : 4:10 and Paddle Pin Kit
Probably been ask many times but I can't find a definitive answer. My 2000 M6 Z28 has all the bolt-ons I am going to perform and doing the gears will be the last mod for now. I plan to have 4:10 installed but do all the manufactures require a Paddle Pin Kit? If they don't mention it in their ad like SLP does can I assume one is not required for their particular brand? Yes...I know what a s s u m e means. A little advice please.

Yes, you need the paddle pin kit IF you have a Zexel Torsen Differential and are installing 4:10 gears. I am pretty sure, but not positive, that you do have a Zexel. The standard Paddle Pin is one piece. The SLP Paddle pin is 2 pieces because there is no way to get the standard (1 piece) pin in without grind the ring gear.
Sort of what I was thinking. Big price to pay on top of the gears and installation. Thanks for the feed back.

A friend of mine is looking into producing his own paddle pin kit. SLP wants way to much money for it. It is a simple machined piece.

when i did my 4.10 gears, i just ground a little off the paddle. just enough to clear.

Wow! Thats alot different than mine. I could have ground the pin but it was easier to buy it at the time.

I don't have any pics, but I ground a couple of grooves in the paddle to slide past the teeth. I did it this way so the paddle would still hold the torsen gears evenly. I put the paddle in as much as I could and marked 2 lines where to grind with an angle grinder. I don't think that grinding the entire side of the paddle is good for the torsen diff.
