heres a scenario: you get your car back from a tranny job and a few other tidbits including an oil change. Anyways you first get there, start up the car, it seems fine, makes a bit of a noise on the top end. you take a drive, it seems a bit sluggish off the line from before but nothing out of the ordinary feeling. Anyways you drive about 500mi or so and the car continues to make a bit of noise. First thing you check is the oil, and voila! the oil is filled to twice at least of the oil that is needed for a 3800:ar: (and this is a s/c GTP). You drain it out and the car drives ok. This is what happened to my car last Mar. I havent had any problems with the engine persay, but a lifter has developed a tick. Do you think there are any other problems that could occur and does the engine need a top clean?

Wow might i suggest you never go back there. Maybe even inform them of what they did wrong incase you develope problems down the road from it

yeah i did right after I found out, I was pissed! at that point tho I had already drained the excess oil, so i couldn't really show him. I am just worried about the long run with the car, probably lucky there wasnt a fire or something!

i think if you had twice the amount of oil in your car you'da puked the engine the first mile

thats the thing, it didnt. I dont know EXACTLY how much extra oil, but when I emptied it into the pan, it LOOKED like it was double and took forever to drain. I assumed it was double (the car was in for work for almost 2 weeks, so trhinking maybe they did the change and dint realize that they had already filled oil.) But in all accounts it was in the VERY LEAST 1-1/2 times or closer to twice as much of what it needed, and the intake was making wierd noises(as i said its a GTP 3800) just want to know if i should do a seafoam and clean the top end if anything got up that high
