if you stay with stock rim, don't go wider than 275/40-17
a 275/40-17 is meant to be mounted on a 17x 9"-11" with optimal mounting on a 17x9.5"
stock wheel is 17x9"
a 315/35-17 is meant to be mounted on a 17x11"-13" for proper mounted tire.

So if you want to get wider tires, get wider wheels.
Unless you don't care about safety.

also if you really want 315/35-17, you can get 17x11 w/ roughly +45 to +50mm offset for a perfect fit.

how much cornering you doing with them ?
As you probably noticed, they do buldge like mofo's and aren't optimal for contact patch, nor properly mounted... unless they are a strict drag slick with almost no pressure which purpose is straight line only.
wouldn't do it on a street driven car... unsafe.

295/50/15 on 15x8 is no problem. been done for long time but....
315/35/17 will not fit on 17x9 rim. the tire is too wide for a 9" rim. on your 295 you have enough sidewall but on the 315/35/17 the side wall will not allow for mounting on anything but 11"-13" rim maybe 10.5" rim if you want to push it.13" would be pushing it also.

There are many manufactures out there that make 17x11 rims for the f-body application that do not require any spacers. I have a set of AMerican Racing torq thrust 2 17x9 front and 17x11 rear and they do not need a spacer. You can call American racing and order then still or better yet look on ebay for them. They sell them pretty cheap.

i have 17x9.5" rim, i had 315/35/17s on my ride for about 10 months. no, problems with wears, just wet roads
but will work for sure!

I was thinking of getting 315/35/17s for my WS6. I was thinking nittos and I was gona buy ZR1 17 x 11 rims for the rear. would this work out for me? Do ZR1s come with the correct offset and any opinions about nittos or ZR1s is much appreciated.

should fit. I've seen quite a few that had it done and it fills the wheel wells nicely. You don't endup having the body hang over the wheels they come out enough to sit flush with the body.

Nittos AREN'T worth the money in my experience. My working with these tires suck and the only street slicks i would highly reccommend would be the mickey thompson ET street radials BUT they dont make anything bigger the 275/40 on a 17" rim unless you jump down to a 15" then you can go as high as 325/50.. In my opinion with the MT's 275/40/17 is ALL the rubber you'll need with thoes street slicks because they will bite very hard!!!

Also....if you want a better street tire for all season and dont mind alittle extra treadwear go with the BFGOODRICH G-FORCE T/A KD 275/40/17 which has

Treadwear: 200
Traction: AA
Temp: A
And it's Y-rated at 186Mph... Grip is awesome on these all seasons but you pay for what you get!!!

I run a 315/35R17 on a 9.5" (10" measured) wheel running 26psi with even wear. They will not fit a 9" wheel properly. If you want the widest fit, use a 285/40R17. That size actually looks better than 275 on a 9" wheel in my opinion. On a 17X11, My friend uses a 335/35R17 that fits nicely, but only runs drag tracks with it, it rubs on autocross tracks. -Tim

Does anybody make a 10-spoke SS wheel in 17"x11" with the right backspacing? I really like my chrome SS wheels and don't want to pay for 4 new wheels.
