Crane programmer

has anyone used the crane powermax programmer? just looking for reviews to help me decide on the best programmer to purchase for my car.

It depends on what your goals are, and how stock your car is, but the mail order PCM tuners are usually able to get a better customized tune for a given application then the hand-helds are.

I've only used the "do-it-yourself" tuning packages, but I've read the forums quite a bit and it seems like people prefer the Diablo Predator tuner over any of the others.

The other option is to find a local speed shop with a dyno and have them "dyno-tune" your car for you. This is how you will get the best performance out of your car and it will probably cost about the same as a new Diablo, Hypertech, Superchips or Powermax (maybe you have a lead on a reduced price or used one).
