what is the widest tire you can put on a 01 t/a with the factory 17" rims on it?

Really shouldn't go wider than 285's...otherwise the wear will be much more uneven due to ballooning of the tire.Those rims are only 9" wide.

Nitto 555R 315/35/17 Is as much as you want on a stock wheel.

i am also looking into tires.. something like these..http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=Goodyear&model=Eagle+F1+GS-D3&vehicleSearch=true&partnum=74YR7F1GSD3 wondering if the 275 on front and 315 would fit the stock 17's on my '00 if not the 315, def. the 285. i love fat tires.

I'm running 285s on mine. It seems to me that anything wider would present a problem on the 17"x9" stock wheels.
