If you have any local chassis shops they should be a Strange dealer.......It's all about finding a local good deal. Where are you at....?

I bought mine from Tbyrne, and drove 4 hours to Chicago to pick it up (saved $400 in shipping).

is this a kit that stengthens the stock 10 bolt so I don't have to buy a 12?

that is just an axle kit. the axles aren't that bad in the stock 7.5s. the problem is simply the size and design of the ring and pinion assy. the car is heavy enough and with any kind of tractrion at the tires, the diff will fail before the axles. if you have a manual transmission, the rear is much more probable to break. if you have an auto and no transbrake, the car will safely run into the 10 sec. range with a few modifications to the 10 bolt. after that don't mess with the stock rear.

I have A4, so ur saying get the 3200 stall, 3.73 gears and run 500rwhp on stock 10 and it is fine? I do intend to make that much power in a year or so, this is why I am in the dillema with the rear end bolt size... many people say go 12 since you'll break it in the scenario above.. so? hmmm what is the smart thing to do? just consolidate the 10bolt somehow? with what kits?

I may keep that 10bolt, do 3.73 gears, stall it and AFR/cam.. and call it a day.. that will put 460rwhp. and then when I want more juice in a few years I'll throw in the procharger and change the to 12bolt + new gears set at that point,.. yeah.. it may be cool that way.

ed's rear is completely stock... he's been lucky. that car runs well! my own is a 'vert also, and with the heavier weight, slicks and all, the 10 bolt is holding up fine. i did the work to mine myself. installed a new Eaton posi, 3.73s, solid pinion spacer, and LPW rear cover. thats about all i would wanna do to one. any more than that and it wouldn't be worth the money. you'd be money ahead to just go to the 12 bolt or S60 (Strange only)

not necessarily... heres the deal. if you do a good posi, gear, install kit, cover, solid spacer, synthetic lube, etc... you're looking at around 900-1000 in just parts! add labor to that and you're getting within the range of buying a new S60 rear completely assembled from Strange. its just the bang for the buck issue. why spend that kind of money on the 10 bolt and still have a 10 bolt whern you're done? although the 10 bolt will live w/ A4 under 500 whp.
