Has anyone tried using the self amplified subs, I know that mtx makes one custom fit for our 4th gen ls1's. also bazooka has the self amplified tubes. any input on how these sound would be helpful....i dont need a ton of bass because i dont listen to much rap but a little would be nice...

also i was thinking about removing the rear seats to fabricate a wall right there, maybe mount subs and amps on that. any input would be appreciated.

The amplified MTX sub has a bad reputation of failing. I prefer an outboard amp myself. Having the sub and amp integrated into one unit is too limiting IMO. I prefer having the flexibility of a separate amp and sub(s).

im using a bose sub box from a 93 camaro. it came like that from the factory i got it from a junk yard and it came with its own amp but instead i just drilled a hole in the box and wired it to an amp that powers the rest of the speakers but its sounds awesome...not exagerating boom but big difference over stock...better than paying 400 bucks on MTX but i think its a 8 inch sub plus it retains some space for storage

I've heard the Alpine deal PLV-7 and I was pretty impressed.
It has 6 7" woofers in a box that was only 23x 13-14"'s. We had it pounding out 50Hz.:yup: They also make a smaller one with 6 5" subs.... Haven't heard that one though.

For what your talking about listening to there small deal would be perfect for you. Clarion makes one with a 7-8" sub my brother just ordered from Crutchfield on sale for like $170 normally $250 also.
