My clutch is making a bad racket when I press it in....
Noise goes away when I let off. Doesn't happen while traveling at speeds or anything. Most everyone thats heard it thinks its the throwout bearing.
So, if I'm going to replace that, might as well replace the whole clutch right?
How hard is it to do on my own. I have friends who have done this sort of work before who will help, but we have no shop and little equipment to work with.
Place in town saying $450 in labor if I supply the kit.

Any help is appreciated

be great if your buds can help but if you aint go no tools its gonna suck. 450 labor may be a bit high but in the ballpark.

It sounds like the throwout bearing is bad. It doesn't mean your clutch is bad. If your clutch isn't slipping, or your flywheel isn't chattering, I would just replace the bearing. I just put the centerforce dual friction clutch in my 01 ta. I also replaced the throwout bearing and had my flywheel replaced. The clutch was 417.00 flywheel facing was 35.00, and throwout bearing was 60.00 at your local parts house. A mechanic will charge you about 250.00 to install a clutch.

$450 for labor plus tax is the lowest estimate I got so far. Everyone else in town is quoting $460+......

The hasn't made the noise today. Not with the clutch engaged anyways, I sort of hear it from time to time first going into gear, or applying some gas..... But not in the high gears at all....

Does this still sound like the bearing?
