Hi Guys,

I have an Automatic 2000 WS6 TA. It is about 7 years old now and has about 33K miles. For the last year or so, when I shift from Park to Reverse or Drive (or vice-versa) or when I shift from Drive to 1st, I get metal sounding clicking noises as the gears shift. Some days are worse than others. It also happens sometimes when I am sitting at a red light in the Drive gear and ease on the accelerator. The dealership looked at it and said that all seems normal and they cannot find anything to repair. But if it is normal, why didn't this noise happen since the day I bought the car? Has anyone experienced this? Thanks for your help.

How long has it been since you had the trans serviced? You might want to try changing the fluid and filter. Over time there could be metal debris, depending upon driving conditions. Usually this ends up in the pan. However, if there are small chunks you coud get an occassional one that floats back up into the clutches while the fluid circulates.

Thanks Specops94.

I had the tranny totally flushed a few months ago but it did not make a difference with the noise. The Pontiac dealership checked the tranny and and said it looked fine. The dealership had two different technicians check it out and neither one of them could find anything that could cause that noise. Weird.
