Is it possible to strip out a gear on an auto with too much juice? I have a 150 shot on my car and it feels like my 2nd gear is slipping. But this only feels this way when i drive it normally, like slowing down to turn onto a different street, and then trying to accelerate in second gear. But if i get on it hard it shifts out fine and pulls hard through all gears... :think:

You can't very well strip gears, but there's plenty of other stuff to break. Could be a hydraulics issue perhaps.

Yes, but its more likely you broke something else,. The important thing to remember is that it is VERY likely that you will break something in the drivetrain on a F-body if you exceed about 500 ft lbs of torque, particularly if you launch hard.

We went through two transmissions (6-speeds) and two rear ends with our Camaro when we had a lightly modified original block in it (heads, can, headers, etc.) with a 150 shot, in only a year. It just wore them out in a hurry. Now that we have a built 408 the transmission lasted only 300 miles and we replaced it with a built-unit good for 650 ft lbs, and put in a Strange locker ear end. Now, no doubt, something else will break. We're replacing the drive shaft next.

Before doing anything else, check your ATF level. It sounds like a line pressure issue to me.

I drive my car up on a couple of 2x4's to give the jack the clearance it needs. :yup:
