Something to think about. I'd hate someone to lose their car because they didn't know.

Not a good way to loose your ride... I love this quote from the article: "Michael King, 20, who faces one charge of prearranged speed competition and two charges of reckless driving, said he's never raced. But he added that he bought his 1994 Mustang two years ago and souped it up to make the engine sound bigger". Sounds like a mustang owner to me :yup:

This is too much. I would have my lawyer all over that crap. Maybe they could sieze cars that were actually racing. I could see the police impound a car, but how can they actually sell them. Oh well you play you pay.

In NC, when you gather for pre-arranged stuff like that, you are taking a big chance. Lots of surveillance out there too.

"over 70 police officers, over 4 months of survelance"

Im glad to know that the tax dollars are being spent wisely.
Murderers and drug dealers eveywhere, but lets put are resources on street racers. How stupid.

Just write them tickets and break up the races, then move on. No need to take peoples cars and set up a Stake out for months and undercover racers.

Some cop has seen The Fast and the Furious, to many times.

Well, not during the entire four months. It was a "roundup" which was why so many officers- many of whom were DMV enforcement.

I grant you there are many more things to do out there, but this is an affluent area of Charlotte, so I can guarantee you it started from citizen complaints.

A lot of cars were inspected as well by DMV. If anything illegal (including no cats) was found on a car, the car was impounded, the illegal "parts" removed, and then the owner has to pay to have the car released. Most of these people were arrested/ cars seized by surprise. I just wanted to warn ya'll that it does happen.

BTW, the area on I-485 they are talking about has had several high-speed accidents resulting in deaths over the last year.

Totally agree. Cell phone useage causes many more accidents than Street racing could ever cause, its a ridiculous thing to focus efforts on. Cops just like the thrill of chasing street racers and impounding cars, its so stupid.

What a waste of resources and tax money
