Need new tires

I know that there is a tire thread on here, but not getting any answers. I have to get a new set of tires and was wondering what is the fattest tire you can run on the stock rims. I currently have 275/40/17's on, but was thinking of going to a 295 or 305 if possible.

I am wondering if the 305s will fit the stock WS6 17" rims as well

I just checked Tirerack.com and punched in 315/35/17 for 2002 Pontiac and it gave me some options. Whether or not it is safe to assume that they'll fit is another question..

The 315's will fit but its going to bulge out like a balloon and look funny on a nine inch wheel, its meant for a 10 inch wheel. 305's are you best bet for stock wheels!
