clutch pedal safety start help

i have an lt1 t/a 6spd. to make sure you understand what i'm talking about, it's the thing that prevents the car from being started with the clutch pedal not depressed. if i press the pedal all the way down it won't start, like its supposed to, i have to lift on the pedal for it to "find the spot where it will start." i can't seem to find how to fix it or bypass it. anything will help, thanks.

Sounds weird to me. I will contact a friend of mine and see what we can come up with. I'll post the info I find out.

There is a clutch pedal position switch located at the top portion left hand clutch lever bracket assembly.
It is held in postion by (2) bolts that fit through oblong holes in a mount bracket. Shaped like a sandwich. The Clutch Anticipate SW is to the right of it and fits through a round hole.The position sw has the wire bundle coming in from your left. See if it is loose. Hope this helps. It is noyhing more than an on/off switch.One wire going in,one coming out.If you put the two wirs together,the car will always start even when in gear!If you put those two wires to a kill switch,car will only start when you turn switch on.

Myself, I wouldn't bypass it . What happens if for some reason you forget it is in gear and start it while you are behind another car.:brick:

sounds to me like it's out of adjustment. Even if you have to replace the switch it's a cheap and easy fix.

You laugh but I saw a perfect example of why you want the clutch safety. Guy had his bypassed in his S-10 pickup. Girlfriend sitting in passenger seat want to turn on the radio while we are all outside the vehicle chatting. She accidently turns the key the wrong way and you can guess the rest. The worst part was the gf/bf shouting match that ensued of course-nobody was hurt that time but.........

I always wonder why ppl with automatics use their parking brakes. I could understand maybe being parked on a steep incline or something but I've gotten in customers cars parked on level ground with the parking brake on-why?? Anyway, wanted to point out that a starter motor has enough torque to overcome the parking brake in a stickshift car. The motor won't want to start but it will move the car with ease. It's a long story how I know this-don't ask .........
