I blew out my front speakers. I looked at Crutchfield repalcements and they say that you loose the bass up front do to the Moosoon system. ? is can you hook up aftermarket speakers and still get bass up front? Do you have to add sperate speakers? I do not want to take out the stock stereo of the car.
Thanks, Mrbob2

Due to the factory amp system u would need a set of components or factory oem replacement speakers if u put in just normal 6 1/2 speakers u will lose all the bass

This is what i would go with.....These Kappa's are awesome.... They are rated at 2 ohm imp. just like the factory monsoon speakers.. But the sound is a day and night difference.
Trust, you will never blow these badboys....

Wrong.

So your telling him to put in a set of 6 1/2 coax speakers which will be replacing factory components...........

You would gain more highs and lose more bass its a know fact that components will produce a better mid bass then a coax will .

I would recommend components not coaxs!!!!

kicker components are ok but i would go with either infinity or eclipse. they may bit a tad bit more but they sound so much better.

true depending on what u want to spend or what type of music u listen to

eclipse components are around 500 us (titanium) nice high/mid

infinity components are around 500 us (kappa perfect)rich high/lack mid a bit

kicker components are around 399 us ( Rs line ) ok high/ rich midbass

polk components are around 199 us (db series) best highs/very weak midbass

They do come with external crossover you know.... So basically they are component speakers ....

Dude, he does not want to customize the shit out of his system. He just wants to know if there's anythig out there that is better the OEM monsoon crap that BLOWS, literally....

But will hook up just the same, has same 2ohm imp. and it's compatible with monsoon system, but it will sound 200% better.. And he will not lose any base, he will gain it.

That's a fact.

He wasnt talking about just sound quality he still wants the bass if u actually read what people are asking... and if u put in a set of coax speakers even with the factory crossovers u will lose some of the bass!!!!!!!!!!!
And i will agree that the monsoon system is CRAP

Fuck it, i'm done.

Oh yeah i forgot, Infinity Kappas have the best warranty in the business 3 yrs.

Let him decide. It basically gonna come down to money issue.

He can pay $80-120 or he can pay $400-$500 for the comp. speakers ....
That's a no-brainer.

And actually kickers warranty is better cauz there straight replace at an autorized delear for new ones on the spot no sending in and waiting

OK, ENOUGH! Both of you shut up and quit typing.

The poor guy is just trying to replace blown speakers not find out which one of you has the biggest....whatever. He also said he got information from Crutchfield which is a joke. What happens when replacing Monsoon speakers for normal aftermarket speakers is that the system is 2 ohms and the speakers are 4 ohms. That creates a dramatic loss of power which is one of the reasons why they said you would lose bass (not the only reason). The aforementioned Infinity Kappa's are the way to go because they are made to work effeciently in the 2 ohms range. I have them and tried several ways of installing them. This is what I recommend.

Leave the factory tweeter connected if it still works and connect the wires powering the factory mid to the provided crossover.
Mount the crossover somewhere inside the door out of the way of the window. (I used some good double sided 3M)
Connect the crossover to both the Infinity mid and tweeter as directed.
You might want to turn the adjustable tweeter down to the 0 dbs setting and adjust it later if you want more treble.
Now its time to rock.

If you have anymore questions feel free to pm me since this thread is shot.

It probably was excately what you said but with all the arguing back and forth the message was lost. Maybe you and Jetblack are friends, I don't know but the thread got rediculous. I know that if I would have started this thread 4 months when my speaker blew and this happened...I would have been pissed. Sorry, didn't mean to sound like such a hard ass.

I got one Monsoon front speaker that came out of my 99SS. It worked fine when removed. $20 and it's yours, plus shipping. 602-769-6535
