Got both of them coming out of a toll booth on the Sawgrass. It was all over by the time I hit 6500 in second gear. The C6 was about 6-8 car lengths behind and the Mustang was so far back I couldn't really tell how many car lengths behaind he was.

It's not a matter of taking his word for it.....it's a matter of what the C-6 is capable of.....there is no way you could pull 6-8 lengths on one when you only have about a 40hp advantage.......he would of had to miss a shift or....like I said....he wasn't racing......

40 hp advantage would be negated also somewhat by the fact that the C6 is lighter by a few hundred pounds also. 6-8 seems a little extreme

nice #s on the rwhp .. maybe one of these days i will buy a lsx powered car and mod the hell out of it.... its too hard to decide between an lsx or a 03 -04 cobra. i just read and article in MM&FF where they bolted a turbo ,xhaust and fuel system to an 03 cobra and got 847 rwhp and 789 ft lb tq it does not get much easier than that
SeVeReDiStOrTiOn

Still sounds believeable to me...410rwhp f-bod with suspension mods vs a c6 with 360-370rwhp with independant rear from a dig/slow roll.
SOMSS knows his car or at least I hope he does since he's the original owner...doubt the c6 guy has even looked under the hood:lol: If the c6 wasn't racing he would've been a hell of a lot farther back then 6-8 lengths against a 400+rwhp car...sorry.

ask any real racer...whether u win by an inch or a mile winning is winning.....whether the other car has 40 more or less hp......u must not have much race experience. heck when I was a teen I drove a 2.2 Dodge Charger, out run the cops and lots of other faster cars. Can you say, " OUT DROVE SOMEBODY " ??? Just because someone has a faster car doesnt mean they will win. People that post kill stories on here if they do lie there is little satisfaction for them , if it is not true. Take their word and show some racing respect.

ok....you're right...he just killed it.....he went thru a toll booth and as soon as he got thru it he nailed it.....not worrying about the attendants who have radios right there that can call the Florida Highway Patrol to let them know that they have a street racer coming right at them and he's driving a Camaro.....nope you're right....he killed it. Reminds me of the time I beat Tony Stewarts race car by um.....oh hell it must of been by miles......I passed him like he was standing still.......now....what I just said was true....BUT....what I failed to tell you was that it was locked safely in his team hauler going down the interstate as I passed him.......but according to you.....I beat it right......
This doesn't have anything to do with being a "real racer" as you put it. I believe I've had my share of it....I grew up around it. I've either raced cars, built cars, or hell....if it had wheels I raced it. So, I understand what a "real racer" is. Yes it's true that if you win by an inch it's a win....but to sit there and think you could get 6-8 car lengths on a C-6 is a little much with only 400rwhp....I know several that would love to prove otherwise....

I understand that the fastest car doesnt always win but I think you're missing my point.....to get 6-8 lengths on a car is huge! To say you beat a C-6 by that amount and your car is only making 400hp tells those of us that race that something just wasn't right.....I dont think the Corvette would be too quick to nail it right after he went thru a toll booth......maybe he didn't know he was racing......lol

You gentlemen seem to know my inner thoughts and how I drive. I assure you the C6 (who was right next yo me) nailed it before I did. I not only have about 50 RWHP advantage but also about 65 RWTQ and about 750 more rpm to play with. I certainly did not endanger anyone getting to 90 mph as fast as I could. Have any of you driven a stock C6? I have and I can tell you my car is at least 1 second faster to sixty, how many car lengths in a 1 second lead. I could be wrong about the exact length but not by much. Before I did my H/C I was able to hold a C6 from a roll to 120 mph, now it's just plain easy to pull away from them. Chose to believe what you will.

Thanks. I wouldn't even mentioned the Mustang GT except that he was goadding me on pacing next to me going down the road. I just thought I'd show him not to mess with Camaros/Firebirds. I only do this maybe once or twice a year, usually going through toll gates since it's not illegal to accelerate rapidly to the speed limit (70). I will be going to the track sometime soon, so we'll se what she does..

Just can't see someone making that up with only a 40hp advantage....besides....it's the torque that wins the race and he would of had more if not the same as you.......so to make that up would of been a undertaking....and then to beat him by 6-8 lengths?????? Can you see how someone could say something just didn't add up??? BUT, like I said....we weren't there so.............

You actually think that a C6 has 395 ft lbs of torque at the rear wheels. I seriously doubt that, I have about a 60 RWTQ advantage and as you said It's torque that wins the race.

its not really a measure of being underrated or overrated.
Its a change in marketing, with 4thgen f-bods GM posted RWHP, with new cars they post crank HP. Which is fine because the general masses dont know the difference!

The LS2 isn't underrated...neither was the C5 vette. The LS1 was only underrated in the f-bods, that's why f-bods dyno the same or higher(due to solid rear) then the C5 vettes. Why would GM underrate thier flagship vette....they wouldn't.

almost all high performance engines are underrated..the LSx line is no exception..as stated its insurance reasons..but gas guzzler has nothing to do with hp or tq rating..its mpg...the only reason why ls2s acheive that is the skip shift and i believe the cylinder shutoff..i cant remember if the c6's ls2 has that...but yea its deff an insurance issue...GM and ford have been doing it for YEARS!! also i heard that the ls1 wasnt actually underrated..it was a change of engine messurments ..they moved from rwhp to crank hp...but i've only heard one person say that so i'm not sure if its true.

One reason.....insurance.....and not having to pay a gas guzzler tax....ok that's two....I assure you....go to the dealer drive one to a dyno and watch what happens........
Really...well if the c5 vettes are underrated then tell me why they dyno exactly what they should for 345 bhp. They usually dyno between 290-315rwhp...yup that would be around the factory rating given that they have a independant rear.
I'm not sure who you have for auto insurance but my rate doesn't change based on hp. It has more to due with cubic inches, at least with my company. With my isurance the rates are the same for a SS or Z28...yet they're rated different. I also had a 89 iroc that I paid more per month for then my ls1 (partly due to age, but my accident on my record now more then compensates for that)...yet the iroc was a dog at 210hp on a good day.
And like the other guy said...hp/tq ratings has nothing to do with the gas guzzler tax.

How many of them have you seen Dyno'd?
Do you know how Insurance companies come up with their rates? Age of the driver, driving record, Car Specs, Replacement Part Costs, and finally classification (sports car, sedan, and such) They go off what the manufacture puts out there.
Now....for the gas guzzler tax thing......yes I know it's based on MPG and yes that's manipulated by the manufacture.. It's based on the average MPG the car company puts out there. The horsepower rating, the MPG, anything about the car is put out there by the manufacture. Remember a few years ago when all the car companies were offering zero percent interest on their cars? My wife and I purchased an 03 Trailblazer at the time it costs $28K. You could even look at the Kelly Blue Book and it was listed right at the same price. Now, fast forward to today and you can purchase a 06 for less!! It's even listed in Kelly Blue Book for less.....It's all a racquet! They put out there exactly what they need to be out there at the time! Not trying to argue here but I didn't say what I said just to hear myself type.....look it up for yourself......
