So I am Pretty Much New and I have a 1998 Pontiac Trans am with the LS1 of course. and I was wondering where I could find the "1168" on my car. Cause I wanted to find out whether of not it has the LS6 Blocks before I buy the Materials to re-build my engine.....Nothing is wrong with the engine Just I like lots of HP. And well I was wondering if I had the LS6 Blocks.
Thanks
Chelsea

Don't bother looking for it because as far as I have read they only came in a few ls1 cars in 01 and 02.

There is actually only one block...the number would be located on the driver's side of the block. Hard to get to because it's up towards the back.

Up to 25% of the 02 model came with the LS6 block, not just a few. 25% is quite a few if ya ask me.

Yeah your right there is more than a few in 02 a few in 01 and none in 00,99, and 98. Thats why I told him to not bother with his! How about you NvybluMtlc02ws6 do you have one? I myself tried to look at my casting # but it was to much of a pain to check without a mirror.

Ahh, I apologize. I missed the part where she mentioned it was a '98. And, I too am unsure what block I have. Like you, I found it to be a pain without the mirror. One of these days when I have some lazy time, get in there to find out.

There's really nothing different between the LS1, and the LS6 block. They are interchangable.
