4L60 tranny mods

I have a 93 TransAm 5.7 with a 4L60 transmission. Now, i have seen some guys talking about the 4L60E which i believe is just the electronic version of the older 4L60.....am i right???
Since I don't have any experiece with auto transmissions i was wondering if someone could help me a little and tell me what my options are with a 4L60 tranny. I want to race on road courses and therefor i try to optimize the shift operation of the tranny. For example, it would be nice to achieve a quicker down shifting prozess.Do I have options????

u can get all of that done with a tune on your PCM today, and the older version is the 700R4

Ok I am looking at this kit right now. So with this kit I can shift through the gears at the desired RPM's by working the lever from 1 through 3????? :)
