Does anybody know how much it runs to check out the codes if anything is wrong?

Most parts stores will scan your car for free. You can also buy an obd2 code reader for less than $100 usually. I saw one in the for sale section here a couple of days ago. Good investment if none of your vehicles will display codes. Saves on the hassle factor of having to run to a parts store everytime you throw a code.
