check your oil level sending unit. If it is broken off or damaged it will tell you that you have low oil. It connects into your oil pan.

forgot to mention that it goes out after it is driven awhile.

depends on the year and the model for wich side of the oil pan the sensor is on on 93vette it is on the passenger side of the oil pan near the back
check the wiring down there too since that part usualy gets coverd in oil grime and water sometimes the connector fails
