p-1404 code...... whats wrong?!

i have had this car 5 days. the engine was kinda dirty so i degreased it and pressure washed it, very nice and clean now, but as soon as i started it back up it threw a SES light. i ran the codes and foud 2 codes, both being the same though.

what the heck does that mean? i cleanred the codes and 2 min later it turned back on. i hope its just something thats wet and not a big issue.

It's an EGR code - guess you could've gotten the connector or something else wet. Not critical, you can still drive the car. Look it up for your year at www.gearchatter.com Never been brave enough to pressure wash my engine.

i let the car sit for an hour, the light went off and has been fine ever since.

Should be good to go then, P1404 throws a code the first ignition cycle it sees a falilure. :)

Dealer will charge you, some autoparts stores here in the US read codes for free, if you don't have access to one in UAE you can get a simple code reader/eraser over the net at places like www.harborfreight.com (just put "code reader" in search). They start for about $39 US.
