Ok before you ridicule me, I just did this just for fun. I took a few rpm readings in 4th gear and extended out the average line in Excel.

With a 6000 rpm redline, and 3.42 rear gears, 4th gear in a 6 speed (1:1) tops out at 134mph, not 200

Well if we lived in a linear world your chart would be correct....unfortunetly :)

true.. but it was linear at the speeds where I checked it. So, it some point at a higher rpm I guess its not linear... hrmmm

by the way, I dont think even a manual LT1 has 6 gears.

I dunno. I never seen a manual LT1. I thought only the LS1's have 6 gears.. and the manual LT1 maybe only 5. who knows.. My automatic has like 4 I think.. haha

that graph should increase concave down with a horizontal asymptope at the redline of the engine

The T56 is the only manual tranny offered in 93 and above F bodies (with minor revisions through time). All T56s have 6 forward gears.

BTW, I thought you had a 6 speed manual tranny. 4th gear in your 4L60e is .70:1, so assuming a 6000 rpm redline and 3.23 rear gears, 4th gear would top out at 203mph. This is a linear function, although there would be so many other forces acting on this in real life, and you'd need a shitload of power to make that equation a reality. If you had 2.73 rear gears, theoretical top speed would be 240mph with a 6000rpm redline.

it's a 3:23 GU5. So I wonder how they do a .7 to 1 ? I dunno but I like it. And I love automatics. But I think its cool that the LT1 has the same manual transmission as the LS1. So , are the automatics different or the same also? I've had a 96 A4 and a 2000 M6 (sucked) and a 97 A4.
