car runs like crap!!

i start the car it cranks over about 2 times starts, today the rpms stayed at 2000rpms at start 10sec later then it comes down to its normal idle 900, then does this (loopy cam) shake (rpms go 200 to 1000 up and down) barley staying running, just a hair from dying, rev it sounds normal, 5k revs smooth no back fires nothing, then when you go under 1000 rpms it starts to bounce up and down, today after a 5k rev i bring it back down to 1000rpms let off ran sound fine then stumbles then car shakes hard small heist engine died, before that it would stay running just bounce off the low rpms just about to give up and stop running, what would cause this? , anyone got an idea?

I would suggest checking the normal stuff like spark plug wires, spark plugs and air fuel mixture and go from there.

have you checked/changed your cat recently? my 1997 was running like crap cause the cat crapped out on me. If it is the cat, dont take it to a dealership. They gave me an estimate of $1100 for one cat :brick: so instead im getting new exhaust from the heads back :flex:
Also might want to check fuel system ie: fuel filter

if it runs fine under normal load but poor at idle
has the car been modified?
if not check the IACV (idle air control valve)
if you have aluminum flywheel the idle speed will need to be set higher to keep the proper rotating mass to maintain the engine happy

Your O2 sensores could be going bad, when mine went my car ran like crap, idled hard and didn't want to go anywhere

First lets with basic questions. Do you have a check engine light on? Have you done a tune up lately? Was it an all the sudden or did you notice the car slowly running like crap?
