What do you guys prefer? Two 12's or three 10's in the back of the F-body

I had MANY different combos over the years.........Including lots of different "woofer beds" back in the day when mini trucks were the shit.
After trial and error for years smaller with more woofers sounds better and tighter.
My set-up with 8-8's:boobies: sounded better than 4-15's & 2-12's,6-12's,8-10's,& last but not least I tried 2-18's & 2-10's.
Needless to say the 3-10's will sound better.........Tighter and respond faster than the 2-12's!!!
BUT IT NEEDS TO BE SET-UP RIGHT!!!! As in the right airspaced box a decent amp & x-over and NO SWAP-MEET JAP JUNK!!!!!!:yup:

WOW thats a lot of systems, I'm sure your neighbors loved you haha.
Thanks for the tips. I was thinking of using Subthump custom box. They offer 2x12's or 3x10's and I wanted to get your guys thoughts. I'm not sure if those boxes are build to spec since there is only so much room back there.

Well, I guess it depends on how much room you have. I use my t-tops so I was limited to the sides of the hatch. Could have gone with 12's, but that would have been too much customization for the rear area, so I just went with two 10s. Plus, when my hatch cover is on, it's totally clean lookin.

I'm still on the fence about the t-top box. How well does it work and are they stable when you slide them in the back? Do you need anything like a towel so the glass doesnt rub?

Its not bad. Its in position pretty good. I didnt want to put the ttops in the back seat, so i chose this. The ttops sit firmly in the space, they dont move at all. I use a towel cuz they do rub against each other when u put them in the space.

Does the stock t-top trays at the bottom have to be removed as well?

my 1 12 inch kicker XPL sounds mint...ive heard 2 12s, 2 10s, 3 10, 2 15,s all before and generaly there waaay to loud unless your TRYING to lose your hearing and rattle your car in pieces ...my vote would be fore 2 10s or 1 12.....anything more is rediculous......with a good amp anyways

Anyone had 4-10" subs in an Fbody? I've got 4 xtant 10's layin around. (2 of them are already in my std. cab ranger, i could use the room back, so i may pull em out and stick those in the car)

Just curious if it's been done and if there's room enough. I've been thinking (read: not measuring, ideas only here) About a \ _ _ / setup in the back 'hole' or if that doesn't warrant enough room, maybe a \ / \ / setup? If all else fails, i'll run 3 subs in the typical fashion.

I had an 89 Firebird and had a 15" kicker comp VR and the 2 xtant 10's in the back hole, 15" in a box under the 10's, and i made a plate similar to the subthump setup for the 10's and kinda 'hid' the 15. that setup rocked my world. With Ttops out it would vibrate the entire windshield frame back and forth roughly half an inch. I loved it, but it went out the window when i took it off the road for winter and sold it the following spring. Then i put the 15 and 10's in my fullsize Bronco, thats a different story (box was 48" wide, 17" deep, 16" tall, 3 chambers, 3cu ft ported in the middle for the 15, 1cuft. on the ends for the 10's) Anywho...i didn't vote :-P

I have one ported 10" alpine type r sub powered by an alpine amp and it hits hard as hell! The box is more important than the sub for great sounds!

I prefer a single DVC sub for a good SQ system. I like my Image Dynamics IDQ12v3D4. It hits hard when needed but overal a very responsive quality sub.

I ran 2 10's when I competed in IASCA many moons ago.
