Question,

I bought a 99 Z28 with the manual 6 speed. When cleaning the car, the shifter handle simply pulls out of the shift mechinisim, is this normal?

Also have a rear end noise at 45MPH +, but will add that question after I check the fluid.

Thanks,

Tim

No, not normal( its broken the vulcanized bond). It cannot be fixed and must be replaced.

You mean the knob or the whole damn shifter?

The top half of the shift stick, I believe, which would make it broken.

The complete stick and knob pulls up out of the sleeve that is bolted to the shift mechinism. So......do I need to "glue" the stick in in somehow?

Thanks

As I stated above, it is not repairable.PM me for a new stick.

OK, thanks. Checked today $140 from GM. For that cost I could uy a Hurst Shifter.

Fixed with JB-Weld (cleaned stick & glued that sucker in) and feels as firm as my co-workers 99 SS with Hurst. Added 6 speed Hurst knob and good as new. That factory rubber bushng must really add slop into the feel in the goal of eliminating isolation.

Thanks
