Shift kits do a multitude of things , They increase fluild volume to the clutches, the increase line preasure , shorten the apply time from command to actual shift , reducing heat and clutch wear,They also correct issues such as code 1870 ,
Generally properly installed they can increase the life of a transmission substantially if the transmission is in pretty good shape to begin with but alternatly if its allready worn out it can hasten there demise .

IN PLAIN ENGLISH THEY BOOST LINE PRESSURE.........WHICH FIRMS UP THE SHIFT AND REDUCES TRANS. TEMP. DUE TO REDUCED SLIPPAGE......BASICALLY IT REPLACES THE PLATE BETWEEN THE THE VALVE BODY AND THE TRANS. CASE......IF IT IS A"BETTER" KIT IT WILL ALSO INCLUDE FIRMER SPRINGS FOR SOME OF THE SERVOS.:yup:
IT LENGTHINGS THE LIFE OF A GOOD TRANS.!!! BUT IT ALSO IS NOT A CURE FOR A SLIPPING OR JUNK TRANS!!!!!:denied:

So what is the difference in a shift kit and a trans pac?

"Trans-Pac" would be the better kit......Including the servo springs.....So it's not just the plate.
I would purchase one from TransGo. Any local "good" tranny shop should deal with their product.
Yes you can install yourself if you have basic mechanical skills.:yup:

trans go shift kit is good and compatible with 99 model year? B&M shift plus as advertised on Tbyrnemotorsports.com is not compatible with 99-01 model year. I am thinking of getting one and was curious.
