Steering wheel controls for aftermarket HU ?

Years ago when I had a camaro I remember reading of some aftermarket device that would allow you to use the steering wheel controls on an aftermarket HU. Is that true?
I have a monsoon setup in my car that I may or may not keep. I just want to weight all my options.

You may want to seacrh for PAC SWI PS which allows you to hook up to SONY and PIONEER HU's. Hope this helps Craig

I know that Alpine makes an adapter for their units that came with a remote...(fixing to buy and intall one :)) My dealer also mentioned something about a universal, programable unit...but i don't know anything about it... May want to stop into a reputable local stereo shop...(not best buy, circuit city, etc. IMHO) and ask--sure they would be happy to find what you need-the units are out there. Also would sell better value system than one of the aforementioned retailers would....
