I've heard about people with 700bhp streetable LS1's. Any idea how much it would cost to beef up the bottom end to handle that much power? I did a search on the "old" forum and couldn't find any info. Thanks

Sure.....
H/C/Valves/springs etc./Headers/Forged bottom end/Nitrous shot/Dyno Tune bout $8-10K.
But then the fun begins....stall convertors/drive shafts/axles/trannie coolers/drag radials/rear ends...on and on:)
Here you go....

I didnt use this exact NX kit....but whichever you feel comfortable with....
I do have the Patriot heads w/Comp Cam 700BHP is very doable and has been done by many.....the trick is to get it to the ground.....that cost more than the above quote:)

To forge your bottom end and use the stock crank will be about $2500 to $3300. Then you will need a nice set of heads and a cam. And if you want a daily drive I reconmend the forced induction route. :yup:

I heard that a stock bottom end will take 1000 easy, the ls1/ls6 is also a 6 bolt main to that has to say something

You're looking to spend at least $8K for everything (assuming you're starting from scratch or with very little basic mods). It also depends if you're going Nitrous or forced induction. Everything adds up to get those HP numbers. We're nearing the completion of our 800hp SS and the numbers aren't cheap. Don't forget the "other" things most don't think about when considering building a high HP/TQ monster. Those include, but not limited to: new fuel management system to handle that power, beefing up the tranny (b/c the stock one will go eventually), injectors, bolts (to keep the engine together), etc etc

Curious why you say this route friend....FI is just the opposite...allow me to elaborate on my question....you build the motor first...NA monster....heads/cam/headers/driveline etc......then you have choices for the next step.........turbo/blower completely changes the "daily driver" characteristics of the car...Nitrous does not at all....I'm all about learning man....share......every damn blower or turbo I have ever had/installed completely changed the car...heat soak issues....under hood room....too many restrictions....nitrous does none of these things.....I'm all ears....in more way than you know man:):)

Sorry...thats internet bullshit friend...stock rods/valves/springs...and the rod bolts...would never support 1000 RWHP....or you can give it a try:)

Just wanted to say thanks for all the intelligent and helpful responses!! I was spending time on, let's just say, "another forum" where I would've gotten about 25 worthless smartass responses to a question like the one I asked.

I hear ya man...I was a member of "another" LS1 board for over 3000 post....just got really tired of the kids/trolls...just ridiculous....there are some true gearheads here...and the mods seem to have it together...so I think I'll park my big ass here for awhile...long as they'll have me that is:) Glad you got what your looking for.....don't get too caught up in HP numbers....build your engine/driveline/suspension out for the kind of "driving" you prefer to do....and the numbers will be whatever the numbers are man.....I see lower HP cars kick the crap out of higher HP cars everyday.....

it is the views of many people on this site and others that the stock crank will take eight or nine hundred horse and the stock pistons/rods can only handle about five hundred rwhp......fwiw. rear end and clutch will be gone if stock anywhere near this.

change the compression of your engine!! But why do you want to run race gas(110 octane)

There is a huge misconception that higher octance makes cars run faster and lower octane make them run slower. All an octane rating does is prevent detonation. Higher compression engine need higher octane because if you run to low of an octane your engine will sound like all hell is breaking lose because of premature detonation. Which will damage your valvetrain and your engine!

This is why I feel octane boost bottles are just BS. If you want to run fast on juice, hook a nitrous kit!

if I am wrong on this please correct me!!
