yep they made a purple one. GM released only a few in 98. In the original brochure, it was a promotional color and a few made it to the assembly line before GM said oops we didn't mean to release that color

The rarest is probably the 97 LT4 Firehawks. Only 29 were made.
I don't consider option combinations a factor when you're talking about rarity. For example, a "98 WS6 Formula with a Hurst shifter, red paint, hardtop, tan leather, and power antenna- one of one made!!!". I think thats kind of dumb.

in 97 LT4 was an option 29 of 163 cars were just ordered with it, just like the factory paint, transmission, floor mats, ect. There are many 1 of 1 cars out there. Firehawks are the rarest of all Firebirds.

Production #'s by year were.
1992- 25
1993- 201
1994- 500
1995- 743
1996- 86
1997- 163
1998- 0, 6 cars got the firehawk content for promotion, but not the actual WU6 option. They are NOT considered production Firehawks by SLP
1999- 719
2000- 741
2001- 540
2002- 1501... Uncomfirmed

For '02 you could not opto out with a Pontiac as I tried and still got T-tops. I think you could get a non-T-topped Camaro SS or Z-28 but not sure.

Here's another one: Just saw in one of the current Pontiac mags on the newstand, there were pics of a factory modded '73 SD-455 that was done in the black & gold Bandit style markings with the big gold firechicken on the hood and it was shown at several car shows around the country before it was modified with the front end of a '74 to make that years car shows. I think it was later modded with '75 and '76 front ends for those years car shows before being retired. The car still exists too! Didn't know that the black & gold scheme went back that far! Would sure be nice if they put it back to the '73 front end though.

Actually, no. GM only built one Inverse 30th T/A. It is a vert, not a coupe. Also, it is numbered "1 of 1" on the dash. A guy saw the one and only car of its kind at a show and tried his best to duplicate it using a NBM vert T/A. He did a remarkable job. Some time later at a show, a GM higher-up saw the "clone" and was very impressed with it. At first glance he actually thought it was GMs car. He offered to take the car back to GM and finish making it exact. This made car 2, which they numbered "2 of 1".

As for the original car, it was used on the show circuit for a while then given away in a contest. In give-away form, the custom top, wheels, brakes & interior were removed & factory assembly line parts put in place because the car had to meet "warranty standards." The lady that won the car was offered all of the original custom parts for it. All she had to do was sign a waiver stating she wouldn't have a factory warranty on the custom parts. She declined. A year+/- later, she decided to sell the car. It was on AutoTrader.com for $2X,XXX. I am still kicking myself in the ass for not buying it when I had the chance. Anyway, someone else did buy it for a fraction of what it's worth. He spent some time and money on it, but now has the car back in its original form with all of the custom one-off stuff.

So the 1 of 1 Inverse 30th Anniversary T/A is the most rare GM Built 4th gen Firebird IMHO, and possibly the most rare Firebird of any gen or year.

Here are some pics of "1 of 1".

I understand the whole 1 of 1 being rare, but which would you rather have. A 1 of 1 30th vert or a 1 of 4 out of 8 69 TA Ram Air III 4spd vert. Of those 8 all were for GM execs only and should have never entered the general public. The last sale of one netted over $250k and it was restored.

Yea... I see the rarity of the 69 verts. But rarity is usually based on numbers produced. And 1 is still less than 8 any way you cut it. :D

As far as which I would personally rather have... Well, i f I could afford a 69 TA vert, I would probably be able to have it AND the Inverse 30th. So I guess my answer is both. :)

My fav rare TA's are the Sunset Orange Metallic ones. In 2002 there were less than 600 made. If that sounds like a lot, consider there were 30,000 TA's made that year. Only a few came in that color. I'm actually looking to get one.

Check out the December GMHTP Magazine. One of the cars in the shootout (along with my 10th Firehawk) is one of these. The guy only had 800 miles on it, but took it down the track anyway! I got multiple pictures of mine and his together. Here's some of them.

this has to be the rarest 4th Gen Firebird, it was a 2003 Trans Am, the only 2003 Trans Am in existance.

"The GM Performance Division 2003 Super Duty 427 TransAm is reminiscent of the 1970-71
original production Pontiac Firebird TransAm. This vehicle is a modern
interpretation of the classic, with a white exterior accented with blue
racing stripes and classic shaker hood. The front and rear spoilers were
modified to mimic the original muscle car along with front and rear wheel
aero spats. The interior appointments come complete with all the amenities
of the original and include a Hurst shifter, perforated heliocone blue
leather seats and a DNA white perforated leather headliner. The steering
wheel is also leather wrapped in blue to match. The 427 c.i. powerplant,
matched with an automatic transmission, supplies 455 horses to the
285/30/ZR20 inch rear tires. The front wheels are fitted with 265/30/19
high performance tires. This is the only 2003 Trans Am in existance and
the last Trans AM to ever be produced"

What a sick car!! I would love to own this bird!

I've read about that, it's just a converted 2002, it wasn't last off the line, and GM did it for an auto show. It's not an actual 2003 production car. It's one of one because its a custom car that GM just put it's name on. They did a camaro like that too

They made 12 purple WS6s in 1998. They were all Trans Ams. 10 coupes, 2 ragtops. 6 of those cars had M6 transmissions. I just bought one of them.

There wasn't any purple WS6 Formula made... but they only made 26 purple Formulas to begin with. I sent off to PHS to verify the numbers on my Formula... I'm guessing it's like 1 of 5 hard top cloth interior BPM Formulas.
