What Turbo kits are avialable for the F- Body?

For all the guys who want to turbocharge their ride, what company should I pick or start with? This thread is meant to present all the options for turbocharging. Please feel free to add more links, suggestions, or testamonies.

I keep hearing about ground clearance issues with the PTK system. The PTK had my eye until the OFI kit came out. Joel has been patient with me and answered all my questions, so I'm pretty sure I'll be ordering from OFI when I'm ready. I'm still loooking for more pics of the whole kit installed on the car.

OFI will also ship the whole kit out in a couple weeks, PTK has an 8-10 week wait.

I have the demo car for the ofi kit. It made 492hp/528tq on a stock motor w/springs + retainers and a 67mm @ 8psi. Much more fun to drive now.

Just a quick heads up. APS will design and produce a F body intercooled twin turbo system, should be available stateside by July 07 with a little luck. :)

It will be a few months before I can post any pics though I will as soon as the TT system in near completion. :)

TTi has my vote. Over 650hp to the wheels (in an auto car) with a street kit that retains the AC.

Build your own system. There are plenty of resources available on the topic. It's really just a lot of plubming. Of course, you do need to know how to weld, or have a friend that welds. Why pay thousands for a bunch of tubing that can be fabricated by almost anyone?

Any way you do it, by the time you get everything right, you'll probably have spent at least 8-12 thousand (fuel sys,tune,clutch/tranny,rearend,:dot: motor). You can't half ass a turbo setup. You'll always want more. Get the biggest turbo you can fit so you don't have to upgrade later.

i went from 14.6 1/4 to 7.5 1/8 on street tires

this isnt a foxbody..its an ls1..and u can NOOOOOOOT turbo one for a grand or anywhere near that.....nooob.......heres a link to a BASE ls1 turbo kit installed by lpe http://lingenfelter.com/pack_cor_c5_550.htm 19k and the top of the line kit is 50k.....obviously thats installed/warrantied/ and a very reliable kit....theres no way u can build a reliable turbo setup on an ls1 for anything less than 6 or 8k........contact the guys at newera performace about there turbo set up on mikes ( mikes the owner) ls1 TA..im sure they can help u...belive its the sts rear mounted set up they have..somwhere around 700 rwhp..sick

A decent new turbo big enough to feed a stock ls1 will cost 1000 dollars. John Deere turbos aren't very efficient nor will they support much power(I've seen one on a fox body).

I've got 3000 in just hot/cold side steel, air to water intercooler, heat exchanger,67mm turbo and radiator. I got all fabrication free as I donated my car to design the kit on. Add fuel pump and injectors-500/tune-500.
So there's 4000 dollars and not 1 dollar is labor(except tune but software to diy is more then that). Not sure if you know much about f-body's but the stock A4 or stock clutch will not hold up to boost very long. Figure that and a rear end that will be breaking soon.

That should last you a little while until #7 piston breaks and then you can go forged.

Oh and Fabrication is where hot rodding came from isnt? making your own stuff, testing it out, finding out what went wrong, showing off what went right, thinking of new ways to go faster. That kind of stuff?

Bolt ons are nice, but the real talent is when you can say

How can you compare your 1/4 mile time to a 1/8? That doesn't even suport your argument, but then again I don't have a car:itsok: ... anyway I appreciate all the responses to the thread and wanted to know the numbers of the your turbocharged rides(i.e. 1/4, cost, psi, etc.). Thanks.

I agree on the intercooler. I won't put one on my Formula because it creates a huge mouth on the front end, which I find unattractive.
I would suggest going ahead and getting the turbo upgrade and the electronic boost switch. I have been very pleased with mine.
