i was wondering about the ls1 heads, I have a friend who owns a 1998 trans am (a perty gold one) and he just worked the head and threw in a t-rex cam, instead of putting new heads on and said that it was just as good. I really don't know what he did to the heads, but just for arguments sake lets say he did a really good job on the stock heads. Would he have been better off going with a patriot or afr head and why or why not?

Thanks

patriot and especially afr are far superior to the stock head. They flow much better and will give you a lot more power.

Wow a gold T/A that thing has too look sweet - post some pics.

One of the advantages of the aftermarket heads are the deck thickness and the flow characteristics they achieve without the need for weld filling, etc. Also, when ported, the stock heads can be thin under the rockers such that they crack over time. It has happened to several people.

thank you guys that was exactly what I wanted to know, and he actually totaled it six months ago, but I'm just now getting around to asking this question
